@hailtopitt1787 ok thank you!
@hailtopitt1787 follow up… does that email mean anything good or bad?
@RockyPA yes my daughter did her honors submission about 1 month after her regular application. She did not receive any confirmation but followed up with her representative who confirmed receipt.
@Malibu1992 did you submit test scores or the SRAR? Just wondering if the sped things up. My D submitted the same day and is anxiously awaiting!!!
Applied on 10/18, Scores received on 10/27. Should I be concerned that I haven’t been accepted yet? I heard people got in a lot quicker than 3 weeks.
@lebron13 - My S submitted his application to Pitt right around the same day as you and has not heard anything yet either. Swanson engineering, OOS.
I figure they’re probably getting more apps these days so the process may be slower than earlier in the cycle. Hoping to hear something by early Dec.
Good luck to you!
@AlmostThere2018 Thanks. It is a safety for me so I think I get in, so it’s probably just me being anxious.
@lebron13 – my S actually just got his acceptance!! Swanson Engineering, OOS. He got the cute video folks have talked about.
So turnaround from application to decision was almost exactly four weeks. Nice job, Pitt! You made our house very happy this afternoon!
My son applied on Nov 7. Not great stats, but in rigorous school and told Pitt is a probably for him. I think made a mistake by applying to business school, but anxiously waiting. My question is probably silly, but should we be worried that he is being inundated by emails from the Bradford campus? It just feels like maybe they push that to people who aren’t getting in?
@Panther1986 My son gets a ton of those emails and he was already accepted to main campus weeks ago.
@Panther1986 I wouldn’t worry about those Bradford emails. My son STILL gets them, and he got into Swanson Engineering (which is main campus) on September 16! Good luck to your son.
Hello everyone, I just had a quick question. So I checked my peoplesoft ID and I got the buttons, but it says that I have accepted into the undeclared major at dietrich school? Anyone know why that is the case, because I did select biological sciences as my intended major on the common app. TIA!!
@Anonymousllama02 Don’t worry, everybody gets that. You don’t officially declare major until Sophomore year. The letter you get in the mail will note the major you selected when you apply
Anyone have a sense of how likely OOS merit aid is for Swanson Engineering? My S was accepted this week. He has 4.0 UW GPA, 10 APs and great rigor at a top public HS in our state. Very good ECs but he hasn’t cured cancer, lol.
He submitted ACT and it was good, 31, but not stellar. (He had lots of cancellations and stress b4 getting to take it, but we decided to submit since it was in range.)
Also, I get the impression that honors is a difficult admit? Anyone know how difficult? He’s going to submit that essay soon.
Won’t hurt my feelings if he’s not in the running – so honest answers welcome! Just curious for any insights to help figure out affordability picture.
@AlmostThere2018 Based on what we read on this site last year and info from Pitt, my D decided not to apply to honors. Sounds comparable to you, 1420 SAT, 4.0 UW, 4.65 W, 9 APs (all 5s, one 4), lots of good ECs. Last year it was basically a cut off that students have > 1500 SAT and sounded very competitive to get in. We already got some merit so that is not tied to honors. We don’t really see the benefit of honors, housing is farther away and you can still take honors classes if not officially in honors.
@MDmom2021 – that’s really helpful information re: honors.
Their stats are very similar. Do you mind sharing how much merit aid he got from Pitt? Was he admitted this year or last year?
Tks so much!
From this thread, I saw couple full tuition scholarships, some 20K and below.
It’s still early in the admission process and if you son get accepted to Honors, he may get a chance for Chancellor’s scholarship. My D got 20K/yr, so it’s about 5K more than going to our in-state UMD but our D likes Pitt and also applying to BS/MD.
Good luck !!!
Our daughter received an academic merit scholarship for 20k spread out over 4 years. By “academic” does this mean it can only be used towards tuition? Would the letter state unrestricted if it could be used towards room and board? Thanks!
@Olive88 Congrats on the scholarship! I believe academic merit just means it is rewarded for academic performance in high school (in contrast to sports or community service, for example). I would think it could be used for room and board too, but maybe not off-campus housing junior or senior year? That would be a good question for @hailtopitt.
since i received the cathedral of learning prestige scholarship (full tuition), does that mean i’m likely to be admitted to the honors college
