University of Rochester class of 2025 RD applicants

Does anyone know if there is a ig page for accepted students?

Thatā€™s a huge difference in cost. And all are excellent colleges.

But if the cost is not a driving factor, then good advice to look into the specific major. Also study and, if possible, visit the campus because these are very different places.

But $18k tuition vs $45k tuition . . . youā€™re looking at a total cost difference over $100k, and I canā€™t tell you that a degree from one of these places of $100,000 better than the others.

The least expensive.

My D is in the same situation $18k tuition @Pitt Vs $40k tuition @Rochester. Though, she is not clear about PreMed, sheā€™d like to major in natural sciences. Pros about Rochester is open curriculum, smaller size, R1 private university.

Is U of R offering anything in person for admitted students between now and 5/1? Just making sure we havenā€™t missed anything!

Thereā€™s a link to admitted student events on their 2025 Facebook page. I believe all events are virtual. I asked by email if theyā€™re considering in-person, outdoor events based on negative Covid tests, quarantine, or full vaccination. Did not receive a reply.

Ah, thank you. Please let us know if you hear back! U of R is one of the schools we did not make it to before Covid hit. We may have to drive up and at least walk around the campus a bit if they donā€™t offer anything. Thanks again for the reply!

Iā€™m planning to drive to NY to visit soon, so I emailed asking about in person events in the near future. They just responded telling me about the virtual events theyā€™re having. Not sure what to make from that.

On their website they explicitly say no visitors on campus so I will try to walk around the area without actually going on campus. Does anyone have any suggestions on what to see around Rochester?

Has anyone still not gotten their FA package?

Literally right next to the University is Mt Hope Cemetery where many famous people are buried, including Frederick Douglass and Susan B Anthony. Itā€™s a great (large) place to meander and think about life. You can google a map to see where various famous folks are. Additionally, if youā€™re lucky, you might even see a white (not albino) squirrel there. Itā€™s a rare color variation we were lucky enough to see once.

Thereā€™s also a scenic, relaxing walk along the Genesee River on the other side of campus. Between the two is the campus and medical school/center (Strong Hospital).

If youā€™re at all interested in conversing with an alum of both the U and medical center, send me a PM and I can see if my guy still has time for it (he graduates med school in 6 weeks). He usually likes telling folks about the place, but Iā€™m just unsure of his time commitments at the moment.

I am majoring in Political Science on the pre - law track. UofR, Bucknell, and George Washington are all my top schools, all costing within a few grand of each other. Thoughts on where I should go?

I just got mine yesterday, but I got an email about a week ago asking for W2s.

Just got it this morning and award was a bit better than the NPC estimate.

I just received a research grant thing called RIG! Anyone else get this too?

I was reminded that if weā€™re recommending restaurants and people like Persian food, Chortke is awesome - at least as far as our palates are concerned.

Should we head up there for graduation (unsure due to it being virtual for parents), itā€™s a ā€œmust getā€ for us.
