University of Scholars 2014

Hello!
So this year, NEU is allowing up to 75 Scholars to receive full tuition and entrance to the Honors Program. I heard from a current Scholar that the first year, they were looking for 50, and invited 142 to the Scholars Weekend but only 42 enrolled. This is the second year this program is available and I am wondering if anyone knows how many people they will invite this year. None of the admission counselors have a clue. All I know is that it is pulled from the top 1-3% of the applicant pool. My guess is that it will be a little over 200, since they did not invite enough to fill up the 50 spots last year.
Does anybody know?

That seems like a reasonable estimate, but if admissions people don’t even know, it would be hard to expect any of us to know! Your guess is as good as ours.

This will actually be the third year. I heard somewhere that the second year had a higher acceptance rate than the first year and so they ended up with more scholars - so they might adjust accordingly this year.

This will be third year. Last year there were over 100 scholars enrolled. Higher number decided to come to NEU instead of going to other schools.

About 133 scholars enrolled this past year. I believe that is out of 200 who were accepted to Northeastern. The scholars welcome event last March was very impressive, which is what many attribute the big increase in enrollment to.

I will go ahead and accept partial credit for the success of the welcome event last year. I baked Boston Cream Pie for the student I was hosting and she decided to come to Northeastern.
But based on those figures from last year, I would probably expect them to accept no more than 150, probably closer to 100.

So you guys believe that perhaps they would be inviting less people this year? ):
