I applied early action to the University of South Carolina in October. I also applied to their honors college. A friend of mine who did not apply to the honors college applied early action and received his acceptance letter in late November yet I have not received anything nor heard from the university since I applied to the honors college. Now it is a few days past when the admissions decision date was on the website was listed. Anyone know if it’s the honors college that’s making it so delayed for me? Should I be concerned?
I haven’t received a letter. I’m from CT.
I’m from Illinois myself. Pretty far from South Carolina. Good to know that I’m not the only one though.
Nothing here either. My DD applied to Honors College w/ 1550 SAT & 4.92 (SC)w GPA. Crickets. I feel like she only applied there for me. I’m a huge gamecock fan-Born in Columbia and raised in SC. I was adopted, and all I know about my birth parents is that they were both students at USC. This was not a 1st choice for her, but she still checks the mail (hopeful) every day.
They continued to send decisions all week long so you should receive something by end of next week. The date on their website said it’s the week of December 12th but you have to allow mailing time. My understanding is up to 5 business days is mailing time. Not hearing of anyone getting deferred or rejected yet.
In IL. My daughter got her acceptance letter yesterday (Darla Moore). She applied by Oct 15th and then did the Honors app by Nov 15th. The Honors decisions come out later. They don’t give specific financial or scholarship info in the letter, but they do tell you if you get in state tuition.
Has anyone been deferred or rejected as of now ?
I still haven’t received any letter of any kind yet.
me neither and I am in SC, said it was mailed out last week? Wonder if rejections are mailed out last :-?
I’d be kinda surprised if I got rejected. My friend who got in had a lower ACT and gpa than me. Also, USC has taken everyone who’s ever applied from my school. Definitely would be a bummer to get rejected as it was definetly at the top of the list for me
Also, still haven’t gotten any letter
My daughter’s acceptance was mailed on the 13th and received today (19th). Her portal updated on the night of Monday 17th though so check that too. I’m in Upstate SC, and it took 6 days for mail to reach here.
Thanks for the idea but my portal just says that everything is turned in. No indication of an admissions decision. Sure hope it comes soon
Checked the portal today and it said I’ve been moved to second review…
Hi. Do you think a b student with 24 act could get in?
@Bridget1 This is the current freshman class.
4.1 weighted is higher than I expected for USC:
I’m unfamiliar with the SC GPA weighting system, but I found this link from a SC high school titled “South Carolina Uniform Grading Scale/GPA System”.
https://www.clover.k12.sc.us/Page/5688
With 60% of admitted students SC residents, is it a reasonable assumption that the 4.1 WGPA average would be lower if 60% of the students didn’t have a 6.0-basis weighted GPA?
Our OOS rising senior daughter wanted to tour USC this summer but she’s got a 3.7 WGPA on a 4.4 scale (8 APs); but not sure if that’s going to be enough (?)
@projectmgr, I believe they will adjust your daughter’s gpa to the SC UGP system. I’ve heard that’s what they do, but my kids are in-state so I’m not 100%. I have read it on another thread.
Thanks @DDclass2018 - is the 6.0 scale in place for all high schools in SC? Or was it just the scale in place for the school I found in the link above?
Thanks for your help!
All public schools in SC use the same scale.
