University of Texas at Austin Class of 2023 Admissions

So we have mail preview and I can see in my account that my daughter is receiving a letter from UT “office of the President” this afternoon. She’s already admitted to COLA (government) and received her big envelope for that last week. She applied to Plan II but is still under review in her portal and this envelope doesn’t say Plan II anywhere.

I know we obviously will know in a few hours but I stink with suspense. I’d love to know if this could be anything important or it’s just some generic letter. I’ve heard the Plan II letter looks a certain color (can’t remember now), but this is a black and white image.

Anyone receive this? Is it nothing? She didn’t apply for any UT scholarships. I imagine it’s nothing but could it be a denial?

@Meadow530

Same situation here. Plan II in review, accepted to Moody 12/7, USPS preview shows the same letter sized envelope (from UT President, Admissions)

I have no idea what it is, but waiting with bated breath along with you!

She seems to think it will be a hard copy of an email she received that was essentially just, “pay your deposits and come to our school!”

Sadly, I think she’s probably right. Geez, how I wish we could get an early Christmas present!

@Meadow530 and @romns116 - Plan II letters come in a large manilla envelope with handwritten address …

my son was admitted to plan 2 in Nov and received it in portal first, then the mailing came a week or so later and was a large (say 12 x 8 ) envelope- thin with a few pages of info in it.

@dday666666 do you know for sure that the following wave of decisions is in roughly 40 days?

what’s plan 2?

@user2023user19 - As sure as I can be with UT … just like last year priority registrants were promised a decision by 2/1 and, sure enough, on 1/31 - 2/1 all priority registrants were notified of their status …

@whiteice67 - Plan II is an honors degree at UT …

Does anyone know what happens if auto-admitted instate students are not admitted to the the applied majors?

@Wendyh I believe they are admitted to undergraduate studies or are offered available choices.

Hey guys OOS student. My first choice was Environmental Science CNS, has anyone recieved acceptances from that program yet? also any OOS LAH acceptances? this is really stressful, the college in my state does rolling admissions but it’s usually a week after you apply so you aren’t left wondering when you’ll get it. Best of luck to everyone here and congrats to every one that’s been accepted!

@UT2324 Thank you very much! As long as they can still study at UT…

@Wendyh If an auto-admit student does not get into the major of their choice they are by default put under the school of undergraduate studies.

Thank you!

when does the admissions office open up again?

the administrative offices open back up on Jan. 2nd but last year there was no real activity until the big release Jan. 31 - Feb 1. There were a few decisions announced on CC but they were few and far between. So 30 days and counting down.

I just checked and there were some, not many, admissions on Friday January 12th (would be Friday the 11th this year)

Happy New Year to all. The admissions office is back in today full time - let everyone know if you hear anything at all … good luck to all.

Hi everyone! Current student from UT Austin here. To everyone who has been admitted already, congratulations! If you are still waiting for an admissions decision, don’t lose hope! When I applied, I was auto-admit and submitted my application in August. I didn’t receive a response until February 1st. There’s no pattern in who hears when, so the best thing to do is to be patient and just expect to hear back on the last possible day! I just wanted to say that if you have any questions about the university or want someone to “chance” you, feel free to PM me!
