@zlonghorn Congrats on your acceptance! Thanks for mentioning your score because I feel like people put too much emphasis on stats, when in reality it is the application in its entirety and the way you present yourself to admissions that gets you in to the public Ivy which is UT. Congrats again! Onwards and upwards my friend!
agree chief. not only that but CC serms to have only the top 50% who comment. a school with a 25%-75% range of 1300-1500 and u will only see people comment who have 1400+ SAT scores. lol. thats like the top 8% of test takers. my D has a 1320 which I think is fantastic but Ive. had comments that suggest it is low. Anyway, my point is that if anyone is relying on CC for admit chances use it as a small piece of data. btw D accepted to TAMU Mays and UT Austin McCombs. only took SAT once-life is too short to obsess on a test, 3.93uw, top 9% at her school, great leadership ECs. Applause to zlonghorn for acceptance and posting his ACT score!! 27 is pretty awesome! thinking top 70-85%!!
My daughter’s friend was notified last night she wasn’t accepted to her major (chemistry)
However, we still haven’t heard anything yet for my daughter. She’s an auto admit that applied back in August, but revised one of the essays after the priority date, so we’re not sure if she’ll receive notice by Feb.1st. I will say the waiting is excruciating!
My daughter is OOS and applied to Undergraduate Studies and still hasn’t heard… we are dying!! She has a 3.95/4 GPA and a 1330 SAT with a very extensive resume and leadership qualifications does anyone have any insight into what her chances will be? Also congratulations to everyone that has heard!
We we’re notified in October she was admitted to the University through the “Automatic Admittance” process …being in the top 7% of your class (I believe it is), but she would be notified at a later date if she was accepted to major she applied.
I so agree with your statistics. There is ZERO way possible to use CC as a baseline for acceptance, actually, even for the upper echelon. Any extra curricular, leadership, essays, it’s all subjective. each student is unique with their own characteristic traits. Schools like UT may push the top 6% and emphasize school ranking but at the end of the day they are looking for well rounded students that have something to offer the community, their school and peers. the 27ACT acceptance shows you that and it’s awesome. That’s where we are at. My DD is OOS and isn’t in that top percentage but if I let CC dictate what the outcome would be I may as well just quit typing now. You never know what might happen and unfortunately these boards just don’t produce enough information to formulate what Admissions is going to do. I’m just crossing my fingers for everyone but at the end of the day, we have another public ivy league school in our back pocket and several other acceptances. Everyone’s kiddos (and parents) are gonna be just fine
@collegemomjam AA who do not get into their 2 major preference are given the choice of majors with available spots (I think these are usually in liberal arts bc it is such a large college) or undergraduate studies.
The 2022 stats are pretty clear. Percentage-wise, it is most difficult for nonauto admit applicants that are in-state–18% acceptance rate. Out of state rate is 25.9. The chance of those students getting into their chosen major after their holistic review is higher though. These stats are from last year, and they have reported a record number of applications this year. Auto-admit was top 6% this year too. The SAT and ACT test stats would reciprocally rise. https://admissions.utexas.edu/explore/freshman-profile
I found out that since my tests scores came out after November 1st I am not priority deadline. Does that mean I won’t hear back until March 1st or is there a chance I can hear back earlier. Also, will the regular decision process decrease my chances?
I know Chief Shah is in the same situation. Unfortunately, I am pretty sure you will not be considered priority as all documents are due by November 1 to be classified in the distinction of priory status. Thereby, you’ll most likely hear back next month but I believe you’ll find out early-mid February. Regular decision will NOT decrease your chances. Stay calm. Ease up. Enjoy your senior year. You’ve done everything you can to get in to UT.
