I have a son that went through this last year, and a daughter going through this currently. (So that is my experience,)
Admission is awesome, congratulations!
Wait list is really good…means you are very close, but you have to wait until everyone “accepted” decides between UT and A&M, etc… so I “think” that means you do not know for sure until around May1. That is the bad part. But don’t take my word on that. It just means someone else has to decide not to go to UT to open up your chair. And if you are #57 on the wait list, then 57 admitted kids have to decide NOT to go to UT in order for you to get your spot. I do not think they tell you where you are on the list.
PACE is a great option. You go to ACC and to UT, but are considered a UT student. Unless you tell people that you are PACE, no one will know. Many kids take classes at both places anyway. They only offer Wait list and PACE to a handful of students. You can look the numbers up on past years. It isn’t a lot. If I remember right, about 150 were on those lists. But I am going off memory from a year ago…but they post the numbers in their reports.
(You can accept PACE and still be on the wait list)
CAP is what my son received last year. Basically, you are a good candidate, but there is no room for you. You attend school at another UT school, take a list of classes, one must be math, and make a 3.2 and you are automatically into Liberal Arts or undeclared. You can apply to other schools, such as engineering, but those aren’t automatic. As CAP coming in as a sophomore next year, you are taking the spot of someone that got in, and didn’t make it to their next year for what ever reason…so their spot opened up.) It is a good option. The year goes fast. It is a way to get to Austin, so if this is offered, I would seriously consider it. And seriously make the 3.2. Those other UT schools aren’t a cakewalk.
Best of luck to you all, no matter what your status was updated to. It’s a hard pill to swallow if you don’t get in. But the other options have their benefits.
Just got into McCombs!! 31 ACT 2.9 UW (grade deflated) Asian Male No hooks. Wrote nice essays and had great Recommendations from a professor at nearby college i researched with OMG OMG OMG OMG ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE GUYS GOOD LUCK TO YOU ALL!!
@TSip2000 would you by any chance know what percentage of the waitlisters end up being offered admittance into UT? And if, for example, UT has 500 open spots for waitlisters, do they offer admittance to the most qualified 500 or the first 500 who entered the waitlist?
@lenny2 - I assume his best option is to choose Undergraduate Studies and decide what major he wants to transfer to and follow a course plan for that. My older son did CAP and successfully transferred into ME after his CAP year. I’m just disappointed that there isn’t even an option for a math or science type major to choose. Any places still accepting applications? LOL
Got in to McCombs also!

Because on MyStatus, when I’ve logged on before, states that they will email any updates to your profile. I haven’t received an email yet and apparently decisions are out
