See message 922 on this thread for UT wait list numbers. I looked at the UT common data and confirm the accuracy. Chance of clearing wait list is very low.
Regarding the wait list, my understanding is that very few on the wait list get in that way. The next option, “PACE” is a sure fire way (as long as you make your grades.) CAP is also sure fire, but not as desirable…simply because you are starting out at another campus (but you make an extra set of friends) --it has it’s pros and cons, but if you want to go to UT, and everyone here does…take the CAP if that is what is offered. It is your foot in the door. There is another student (maybe on this forum) that will enjoy 6th street way too much their freshman year, and will be going home next year. His/her chair will be vacant. The CAP and PACE students that are serious, and want to be at UT, will take that students spot.

Regarding my status posting vs the snail mail notification…my son got his official letter about 10 days after the My Status update. (last year’s information…class of 2018)
Are they releasing everyone today? Still no update for me. I applied to architecture.
Admitted to Cockrell for ChemE. Will update with stats later. My friend got her CNS admittance too!
Got in for ChemE! With really bad grades and a really bad ACT score and being OOS and being a non-minority! Holy cow!
Admitted to business w/ 11% rank, 2190 SAT
was not admitted. first major was cs and secondary major was mechanical engineering. i’m pretty disappointed because ut was in my top 5 schools. congrats to everyone who got in
Got into cockrell, bad rank but 2090 SAT (1450 composite) and 790 math level 2. in-state. thank god good luck to everyone

Got offered a CAP. I applied for CS.

Does how fast you apply affect getting a major? I’m seeing a LOT of people accepted to Chem E with lesser stats, but I do know my son didn’t apply until Sept. Wondering if that cost him? And from the note on his status, it says something like “you didn’t get your first choice, but you second choice MIGHT be among available majors” so I’m wondering if they even consider 2nd choice?
