University of Texas--Austin Admissions

I’m in shock, albeit not one of my top choices at all I expected to be a shoe in for UT Austin McCombs.
Rejected
2170 SAT
3.97 UW GPA
Top 5%
OOS Business Major

Not sure why I got rejected. I would appeal but I’ve already been accepted to quite a few other schools that both rank much higher and are a better fit for me. Props to all who got in. I’m sure it’ll be amazing!!! Congratulations!

@crazymom23 - right there with ya! I have no idea how they come about these decisions. Seems like a lot of OOS’ getting ChemE. Lots of lower stats getting the major. Very confusing.

@Homeless2Harvard‌ you should appeal!

Accepted College of Natural Sciences Neuroscience Major.
Act: 33
UW GPA: 3.9
Good Extras and such

what major?

@austintxmother‌ subject tests dont matter for ur daughter. her rank is amazing! my rank was like top39%. i needed something to overcome that.

ideally taking subject tests are good for admissions

no appeal system as far as I know :frowning:

Admitted w/ rank 20/640 (top 3%,) 3.82/4.38 GPA, 2350/34 SAT/ACT, 800/790/770/740 M2/Chem/Bio-M/Phys, and fairly garbage essays, in-state. Congrats to all the other Chemical Engineering majors! I look forward to seeing y’all (unless my top choice pans out somehow, haha.)

@Homeless2Harvard‌ … It’s primarily because you are Out of State. The bar for OOS is very high at UT.

Does anyone have any clue as to what it might mean to not get any decision at all today? My son is waiting to hear from McCombs.

@texasjayhawk‌ it doesnt mean anything. nothing bad at least! :slight_smile: dont worry!

My son was just rejected to my dismay…we are out of state so we knew from the start how difficult it was to get in. He had a 3.7 GPA and a 2040 on the SAT. He did not have a class rank but he goes to a small private school that is very competitive. Overall he was in 3 AP classes including junior and senior year. Did a lot of community service, was president of 4 clubs at school, and is a tri-season athlete. He loves UT and is hoping to maybe appeal. Does anyone know anything about appealing?

http://bealonghorn.utexas.edu/appeals Typically you have to have something missing from your original application or some strange circumstances warranting a second look at your application. I’m sure someone can speak to it more than I can!

Been waiting since october, accepted :smile: major applied learning and early development ACT:28

@bonnie97‌ congrats!
