University of Texas--Austin Admissions

Still waiting back from the CNS. Didn’t somebody say that all of the decisions were going out today? My status still says, “Complete/On Time”

Waitlisted/PACE/CAP. First choice computer science, second choice English. ACT 29, GPA 3.96, top 18%. Good luck to everyone who has not yet received a decision!

Does everyone get the three options for Waitlisted/PACE/CAP if they weren’t accepted or rejected? How does someone choose which one they accept?

Does anyone know anyone who appealed in the past? I don’t know how easy or hard it is for it actually to work and I didn’t know anything about it at all until my son emailed his rep after his rejection. Is it really only for people who’s college counselor didn’t include a transcript or something? Someone please help me. I want to know if it’s worth it.

@brandacus im in the same boat, everything is complete and on time, but the green check on MyStatus became a black arrow. Waiting eagerly (McCombs)

Is there still any chance that more decisions will come out tonight?? It’s 8:40 and I don’t know how much longer I can hold onto this shred of hope.

yeah now im really annoyed because i believed my admissions counselor… maybe the server has been down tonight… I’ve called a few times but no one has answered because they have an overflow of calls. I don’t know just a thought- but trust me I’m as stressed out as you all are! And everyone I know has already heard…

@DZhang526‌ I suspect they may think you are just using UT as a safety. Even if you don’t have grounds to appeal, you should still try to get a “reconsideration” if UT is your top choice. It’s definitely not fair that an instate applicant with stellar test scores and rank doesn’t get direct admit into first choice major. Maybe someone overlooked some part of your app?

I am a parent of a instate junior and sophomore and your result has me more than a little concerned. Did you write the optional essays?

Congratulations to everyone who was accepted. Remember to stay away from bad habits and do you. For the pace/cap students… work hard for 1 year and be full time student your second year. Btw, just wondering if being a minority helps… lol I’m joking.

@JAMCAFE No, I did not write the optional essays unfortunately. I will admit that my EC’s are just average with only one high leadership position. I was in a rather bad situation due to family issues during the admission process, so my essays certainly weren’t top notch either.

The news is especially unfortunate, since UT was absolutely my first choice university. I will submit an appeals application with an updated expanded resume and letters of recommendation. In addition, I will mention that I do have a speaking disability. The disability is not of such importance that I feel it is absolutely necessary to include, but it certainly has greatly influenced who I am.

Good luck to you DZhang256 … We are all pulling for u. Be aggressive and make a string case . You deserve it!

Has anyone else still not received their decision?

@texasjayhawk‌ I have not. What major are you waiting on?

I just got the pace! First I was really sad but then I found a silver lining! You get ALL the privileges of a UT student- so I can try out for the UT Pom Squad and I can rush for a sorority. So you are basically a UT student but you get to take some easier classes your first year (ACC) which can only help your GPA!

@girlfromworld1, my son is waiting on McCombs.

Dzhang And others, we are joining your excellent company as a reject for engineering, oos, act 36, gpa 3.89, National merit finalist, good ecs and essays… Same ecs and comparably good essays that got him as a likely for Rice.

@kgrace268‌ I spoke to an admissions counselor at the local admissions office in my city and she said that certain fraternities and sororities won’t let you join if you aren’t a full-time UT student. Just a heads up.

@DZhang526 Appeal! Mention everything about your family situation! My biggest regret with my college applications is that I didn’t write about everything that affected my life. What may seem normal to you now is certainly not normal to the people reviewing your application, remember that. You’re unique, and you gotta make sure they understand. Best of luck!

@bananaana same. i still have not heard anything and i am in state. good luck!

@frostcause On the University Panhellenic website it states at the bottom of the page that all pace students can. Here’s the link: http://www.texaspanhellenic.com/about-recruitment/
