So my cousin got into the summer program when he applied for admission into UT @ Austin Fall class of 2012. He was told that classes begin on June 16, but he has this national music competition for that entire week. Is there any leeway around him going to the first week of the summer school? We've left messages with admisions and so on. Has this situation happened to anyone before?

no one? ...

He needs to do well in those summer classes at UT. He may be so smart that maybe he can do well in those classes even if he misses the first week of school. Maybe they will let him do this. They are all distribution type classes, not classes for his major.

Each high school has a specific UT admissions officer. He should contact the particular admissions officer for his high school.

Those kids register around June 14, I think, so maybe he can go to orientation and registration and maybe even meet some kids who will be in his classes to help him catch up if he misses the first week of school.

He should try posting this question on the UT forum here on collegeconfidential.
