University of Virginia from Out Of State

What are the percentages. How much of their class is from out of state? I have a 91 GPA, 760 CR, 740 M, 740 W, 800 MATH IIC, 760 US HISTORY, 760 CHEMISTRY. From an ultra competitive Long Island public high school. WHat are my chances?

bump---------

You have a 0% chance w/ a 91 average. For UVA, even for in-staters, a 3.75 or above is required. For Out of staters, usually those people have between 3.9 to 4.0. Your SAT scores are good enough for UVA but the Virginia system is queerly obsessed with GPA, and they refuse to admit anyone w/ a lose class rank or GPA, regardless of SAT scores.

Note: This stuff is the 'usual'. If you have a sincere desire to go there, you can apply, and hope that you are part of the select few allowed in w/ below a 3.75 GPA.

My school does not weight GPA at all, if that makes a difference. I took the toughest courseload possible (All honors and AP). is the 3.75 GPA u mentioned above weighted? If so, I think my GPA would be above that. Also, my grades improved yearly, if that matters

Im pretty sure a 3.75 is not required to apply its just the average freshmen gpa, a 91 with those scores is good

I am pretty sure RootBeer was joking

jetz~ as an OOS parent, i'd say you look competitive, especially since your school doesn't weigh. (UVA will see that, right?) of course, do an awesome activity resume, as well, showing passionate focus. best of luck!

UVA 2006-07 Out-of-State
9,597 applied
3,112 admitted 32.4%
1,123 enrolled 36.1% yield

does anyone know the average weighted GPA of OOS applicants? (on a 100% scale)

helenrez,

I'm not sure you will find that degree of granularity anywhere. IS+OOS weighted GPA was 4.05 for the class entering fall 2007.
