UNIVERSITY OF WASHINGTON AUTUMN 2019 TRANSFER

Hey @shortsteff18. Is that the Comparative Lit major? I was going to apply but switched to English instead. That must have been the best birthday present!

Isn’t it very surprising that nobody has heard back from UW for general admission yet? I wonder why haha

Honestly I hope I receive my decision as late as possible. I did really bad in a lot of my old classes because of underlying circumstances and I’m currently retaking them to raise my GPA. My GPA is 3.0 rn so I’m going to be turned down for certain, even with my superb personal statement. If I can get my updated grades for this quarter within the frame of my rejection I can appeal! My new grades should raise my GPA by .5-.6 at least which will give me a much better chance. So no rush here.

It isn’t! It’s called Cinema and Media, it’s in the Arts and Sciences college! Comparative Lit sounds interesting though!

@UW2019tRASFER @Holahihello @Educmajor21 did any of you hear back today? I’m gonna reach out tomorrow for an update.

I didn’t hear anything.

Hey, yea same. Haven’t heard anything (ECO).

So my friend who is currently at student at UW made a good point, they have registration for classes for this fall for current students all this week so they’re probably waiting to see how many kids drop out or don’t register for classes so they know how many spots they have open, plus May 1st was the deadline for freshmen to accept and pay their tuition deposit so she said she thinks it’ll be next week or the week after when they send out acceptances. Let’s hope for next week?

Thank you for the heads up! Definitely helps to put my mind at ease for a while. ? At this point, I’m just focusing on getting to June and trying to tell myself the notification won’t be until then. (Definitely could be later, but can always hope) ?‍♀️ Really appreciate it! @shortsteff18

My bad! The Comparative Lit major has a concentration in Cinema and Media as well. I’m tempted to email admissions and ask if they’ve begun sending out decisions at all, but patience is a virtue haha

I spoke to an admissions advisor yesterday and he told me that it will most likely be another 4 weeks until they send out decisions.

@Jimkick 4 weeks!!! Did they say why? Hopefully they meant within 4 weeks, because we’re halfway through May.

@LeonorC Most likely because they want to see how our spring quarter grades are

They don’t consider spring quarter grades for Summer/Fall admissions unless you’re appealing

@zom12235 Who told you that?

@Jimkick I think @zom12235 meant that admissions wouldn’t be able to consider the spring quarter grades because by the time we send our transcripts on the application deadline at the latest, the spring quarter grades aren’t finalized/in yet.

The only things you can update before the decision are the name, SSN, etc (https://admit.washington.edu/apply/transfer/i-applied/). Also, you can petition with updated transcripts only when you are denied (https://admit.washington.edu/apply/transfer/i-applied/special-admission-appeal/).

Hope they wont need those grades after all!

@NoahFence The advisor told me that we will all be required to send UW an updated transcript at the end of Spring quarter. Therefore I think they will send out decisions after looking at our spring quarter grades

UW started to send decisions from the end of April in 2018and 2017. (General admissions) I think this year is still weird tho

@Jimkick I’m not sure when your spring quarter ends, but at Bellevue College we don’t finish until the 21st of June. Official transcripts aren’t available until at least a few days after that, and it takes a few days to send them via parchment. I don’t see how it would be possible for them to wait until they receive all spring quarter transcripts to then re-review all the applications and still have any decisions sent out in June. Maybe that means we’ll be waiting much longer than June? I’ve always heard that we send over spring quarter transcripts so that the school knows what credits we have or to see if anyone performed poorly enough to be rescinded, but not that they’re included in the initial review process.

Hi guys, just spoke to a friend at UW to get her opinion. She said that it’s HIGHLY unlikely that UW is waiting to see our spring grades, it’s just not a part of the process. Keep in mind that there was an extension for applications this year because of snowmageddon, so admissions didn’t start reviewing until later than usual. This explains why the wait time is longer than past years. Let’s cross our fingers and stay patient!
