I am in my senior year of high school. I was denied admittance to University Of Washington Seattle campus (due to SAT scores not getting to them in time), But was excepted at University of Washington Bothell campus. The problem I have is that I want to go into biomedical engineering and Bothell campus does not offer that major. Will the Bothell campus still help me get to my goal? Will I have transfer after 1st year or 2? I have turned down many out of state school ( including Penn state, ASU, SOU. OSU, etc…) . I just don’t want to leave this area. UW has the club I want and am an Important factor in helping this club make a team. I will be having to go to Seattle campus a few days a week. Have been already doing this for about 6 months as a high school-er.
UWT has BioMed, so you can choose to attend UWT and try to transfer from there or just complete your degree…
Or you can go to a CC and transfer like a lot of people.
I had the same problem as you and chose to attend UWT and it’s kinda nice.
Hope this helped.
If you want to stay in the UW system then you can go to bothell and still be a part of the club. I’m an officer of a professional club on campus and we do have some people from Bothell dropping in every once in a while.
If your deadset goal’s to attend the Seattle campus then my advice to you is to go to a community college instead. While as a Bothell student you can attend classes and activities at the main one, transferring between campuses is very difficult, as if you’re transferring from another four-year school (ex. WSU)
I think I waited to long for UWT to apply. I had applied at Bothell because it has a bus that goes near both campuses.
Bus is 40min. drive then 20 (with no traffic).
I understand that I will have obtain a certain number of credits to eligible to take classes at UW main. That is okay. I guess my concern is that is my major still achievable at bothell? If I end up having to take courses at the other campus. Why is transferring between campuses difficult, Since they are same school (just wondering)?
Technically your major isn’t at bothell. They have biotech at Seattle but that doesn’t mean you can major in it as a bothell student.
Different UW campuses aren’t actually the same school. Think more like the UC system except Bothell and Tacoma are more like seperate “sattelite” campuses. UW transfer admissions treats Bothell students like any other applicants trying to transfer from another 4 year.
Seattle is very picky about what types of students are accepted for transfer. The most common types are CC students (~60% acceptence about) compared to those from schools like WSU, Bothell included (~25%). What they look for is why you need to go to Seattle specifically. I think if you went to Bothell and wrote a good essay on how there’s only Bio there and not Biotech you’d be a solid candidate with the right grades. I suggest you talk to an admissions counselor on campus, who are available to all students current and potential
