Universitywide Analytical Writing Place Exam

I just got the letter in the mail about the AWPE.

In May I will also be taking the AP Literature and Comp and IB English HL test.
But on the letter it says...
"If you are scheduled to take an AP English or IB Higher Level English exam in May, you are still expected to take the May 8 AWPE."

I have already paid $86 for the AP test and $92 for the IB test.
Do I HAVE to take the AWPE? Because I really don't want to pay another $90 for a test.

Yeah, you still have to take the AWPE unless you are already exempt from taking it by getting a 680 in SAR writing, 3 or higher on AP English exam, etc.

What happens if you don’t pass the University-wide AWPE and the AP Lit Exam; what happens if we pass, are we exempt from taking a writing class?

If you don’t pass the AWPE, you’ll be enrolled in a basic English class or something when the school year starts. I’m pretty sure if you pass the AP English exam in May, you will be exempt from taking the writing class.

you still have to take 2 quarters of writing if you pass the exam though.

that would make 3 quarters if you don’t pass?

Yeah if you pass you skip 39A and move on to 39B and 39C. These writing classes need to be completed before your junior year.

I believe that you can also take Writing 39A during the summer.

Ok i got this and one of the requirements to be excused from this test is “a grade of C or higher in an acceptable college course in English composition”

-Does getting a B in AP English count as this?

No, you have to take the English course in College, not high school.
