Right now I am finishing up my first semester at the University of Nevada Las Vegas but I think I am going to try to transfer to the University of Washington Seattle at the end of my second semester. I am from Seattle and I am a Washington resident and I will probably finish with a GPA of 3.5-3.75 and will probably do about the same next semester. I am wondering how hard it is to transfer there without completing two years first? I also am wondering how hard it is to transfer after two years if the first time doesn't work? Oh and I have an SAT of 1780 and a high school GPA of 3.3, I don't know if they consider that?

Hello!

I was informed by an admissions specialist from UW Seattle that transferring from an OOS CC/4-Year institution is much more difficult than transferring from an in-state CC.
Although it is fairly difficult, it is NOT impossible.
I have yet to see someone from an OOS CC/4-Year institution successfully transfer on their first attempt, but I’ve seen applicants get in on their 2nd or 3rd attempt.
More than completing your two years, it is important that you finish your pre-requisites.
UW is pretty anal about knowing what you want to do before applying, and being on track with your goal(s).
They don’t put a lot of emphasis on your HS GPA and SAT score.
All I can say is that you need to have a legitimate and meaningful reason for wanting to transfer to UW, and once you have that, you need to effectively incorporate it into your personal statement.

Good luck.
