Im currently in Spanish II Honors, and while I understand the material, little mistakes KILL me. My teacher takes off a lot on quizzes/tests if you mess up just an accent. First Semester I had an A-, this semester I'm looking at a B+. I am really unsure if its worth lowering my GPA. (A's in all other classes).

My plan was to stop Spanish, pick up Chinese I next year, and also add AP Bio. Would that be worth it? Stop my 3rd year language, pick up a new one, and add AP Bio? Note: AP Bio at my school is easy to get an A-/A in. Without SP3 Honors, I'd have more time so I could add it.

Note: I want to go to some top tier schools

If you want to go to a top tier school, you’ll probably need at least 3 years of the same language.

Honestly…If a student who took 3 years of language is compared to a student who took more AP’s and had a higher GPA, im pretty sure 3 years of language wouldnt matter.

I had the same problem…I took spanish 1 and 2 freshman year, ended up with a 99 in spanish 1 due to the secret 5 point boost our teacher gave to everyone. Went into spanish 2 knowing nothing and barely pulled a 92.53. I would reccomend not taking another language unless you are sure you will do well.

Can’t you just stick it out for 1 more year? HS Spanish III is really not very difficult, and the leap from II to III is not nearly as much as from III to AP IV. If you take a look through the III textbook you’ll see that it’s not that much more advanced/difficult than II.

And maybe you’ll get a different teacher who won’t be so picky about the accents and such.

I was told that most colleges REQUIRE 2 years in the same language, 3 and AP language is just icing on the cake if you want.
