I was recently accepted into both the Butler School of Music at UT Austin and the College of Music at UNT for Choral Music Education. I was wondering if anyone could give advice as to which school has the better education program?
Thanks!

I don’t know about UTAustin (I’m not from Texas) but my son is a choral music Ed major at UNT. He feels like he’s getting a great education there. He particularly has enjoyed UpFront which is a choir made up of choral music Ed students that exists to give future teachers podium time for conducting. This is in addition to the auditioned university choirs and his conducting classes.
Advising has been great. He is able to get the courses he needs, he loves his voice teacher and also takes lessons on his secondary instrument and and has also loved that teacher. The choirs and choir conductors are outstanding. He’s a sophomore and the pandemic curtailed some things as well, so he is not into the deepest part of the education curriculum yet but he’s happy with the education he’s getting at UNT.
If you have any specific questions, ask and I’ll try to answer.
Thank you for answering! I’ve done a lot of research on both programs, so I don’t really have any specific questions. I was looking more for info that can’t be found in a handbook, including personal experiences, so this is super helpful!
