I received a letter from Smith in the mail today. I almost had a heart-attack until' I read it. It said "We have decided to keep a small number of students on the wait list and I am happy that you are one of those few students."

I'm still taking this as a good sign. My original letter indicted the cutoff was June 30th and this letter extended it to the end of July.

A good sign? Yes...you're in the game until you're out of it.

Fwiw, it may not do any good but it can't hurt to follow up and let the admissions office know just how much you still want to go to Smith. Worst case is "Eh!" Best case is "squeaky wheel gets the grease."

The fact Smith extended the deadline is a good thing. Stay in touch with Sid Dalby. If they go to the waitlist, and they may, you want to be the first they call.
