Update to affirmative action

Just thought I would give everyone an update. Its a response to a thread I made 2 years ago

I got into BC with a really low SAT score (1530 or something) and a lot of people thought I would fail or drop out. I finished my first year with a 3.3 cum taking two semesters of General chemistry, General Biology, Calculus, and english/core classes. My first year was hard because because I had to transition to college. My high school sucked and didn't really prepare me for college which explains why I didn't live up to my potential. I took Organic chemistry and Cell Biology this semester and consistently scored the highest score in my class of 300 and ended up with a 3.9 gpa. this pushed my Cum to a 3.5gpa and my science gpa to a 3.6. I am currently pre-med and I see myself going to John Hopkins or Harvard medical school and I just want to tell all of you that you shouldn't judge someone by their SAT score. I know students in some of my classes who score 2200+ and are doing very bad and vice versa. Its really ignorant to praise someone or look down on someone just because they have a low score. There are many factors that play in that are way beyond someone's intelligence. I'm not glorifying affirmative action or anything but my story is why many schools take in black students with significantly lower SAT scores. Thats all.
