Bit of advice needed. S just found out today he is ranked #1 in his class of 400ish. He has long since submitted apps but is waiting to hear word from his top choices. On his transcript he submitted, he was ranked #2. Since the change is only one spot, I was wondering if it is of any significance. Should he ask the counselor to resubmit his mid-year report or would it matter at this point? I kind of want him to but he has already asked a lot of his counselor and is hesitant to ask.

Val v sal…I guess there are some schools that might like to know…if they publish their incoming class with # of Valedictorians…

I would send it but I’m sure there are others who won’t agree…

He might want to send off an email to his admissions counselor at the schools and just let them know. Many schools request end of senior year transcripts, do the schools he applied to ask for those?

SteveMA… I’m not sure if they ask for those but I’ll ask him to find out.

End of year transcripts are only sent to where you’ve been accepted/where you’ve enrolled - they don’t factor into admissions at all.

@runeaglerun… the updated ranking is not end of year. It is based on end of first semester so is just an updated ranking, however, it was not on the mid-year report where it probably should have been. The counselors fell behind and figured rankings a little late this year. I just wonder if it would matter. Thanks for the input though.

I’d go ahead and send it in. It can’t possibly hurt.

I remember reading somewhere on this site that there are some schools that give scholarship money to val’s, so if for no other reason, you should send in the update.

I would have them send it in right away. I know it sounds silly, but there are some schools that like to report how many vals, sals, top 10% and NMFs. It could make a difference at some of the schools, depending on where he applied.

Parentofpeople, but wouldn’t the student actually have to graduate as Val/Sal to qualify for the scholarship? This is just a mid-term update.
