@USUG21 Yield for 2019 was 66%, 2018 was 66%, 2017 was 68%, etc. When is the last time it was 60?
When they say by April 15, 2017 for accepting a spot and submitting a document, is that April 14 @ 11:59PM or is actually on April 15, @ 11:59PM
@bwalts61 The latter
@USUG21 Agree with @mhillsman here. the yield has not been 60% in recent history. It has been in the 64%+ range in recent years.
Last year they admitted too many people (i.e. they underestimated the yield(), and thus they ended up having to enroll more people than the class size.
I have a feeling based on the general yield trend in recent years that they have over admitted again this year. Or at the very least they have not under-admitted, so the use of the waitlist will be probably extremely limited, if they use it at all.
@Penn95 history says that whenever colleges over admit and they enroll more ppl than estimated they land up heavily in housing problems. So they rectify the next yr. Thts the trend i hav seen in many threads of colleges. Since upenn had over enrolled ppl last yr they ll play carefully this yr and must hav enroled less and will try to manage thr yield through WL. My analysis…
@USUG21 That would have been the reasonable thing to do in my opinion as well, but Penn doesn’t seem to have done so. They have admitted enough RD candidates that with a yield of 66%, the target class size will be reached. Since 66% is a pretty reasonable estimate for yield given the past figures, it doesnt look like Penn is planning to use the waitlist a lot.
Also last year they over-admitted by like 45 people which is not a major deviation.
Cross fingers and pray
The positive thing is that every year they have taken some on the waitlist, so regardless there should be a chance no matter what
In some other collleges the defferal letters were different from each other. From that it was apparent which one is good lettter which one is bad letter. If we cn also discuss about the content of ltr then we can pre predict if we ll be accepted or not… we cn list our ltrs content her
Can any one tell what is the time we expect to be off the waitlist… if at all any possibility is thr … earliest time…
Hey hav u all comitted to ur respective schools
Probably after 5/1. Last year, People on WL started to get call on May 5.
@Penn95 any idea if they take off internationals also.
Hi everyone! I was actually a waitlisted student who got eventually got accepted. My one piece of advice would be to definitely write a letter of continued interest to Penn that once again specifies your love for the school as well as highlights your accomplishments during senior year. Obviously I’m not sure how much it actually helps, but I felt very positive about what I turned in (at the time they had a box to submit it in). Good luck!
@locustgirl777 thnx. Can u tell when did u got off WL . Was it immediately after 1st may deadline.
Any body rcvd any news from penn regarding WL. Thr is only green tick mark that WL spot has been accepted . No communication from penn…
is anyone going to submit the optional applicant update?
@brisagarcia1998 hav u submitted the optiomal form… wht to submit in tht
@USUG21 I have not submitted it yet because I am planning to submit it with an additional letter of recommendation, which I should be receiving tonight. I am not sure what to submit, I am just including what I have completed since I have applied, my updated transcripts, and the letter of rec. I am not sure if I am submitting too much or too little
I was waitlisted as well.
