Thank you! I’ll try to stay positive!
So are you considering a gap year? I’m also thinking about that but I’m not sure.
Personally I’m considering this option but my parents aren’t going to agree.
You are considering taking a gap year to reapply to university next year?
Anyone called today? Penn has been wayyyy too silent man. Either let us go or get it moving already.
I am considering this too…
Yes, I hope it’ll increase my chance of getting in Penn.
I’ll call but after lunch (I insist that my hypothesis is correct)
Seriously, if they don’t want us just say it already…
BTW, same. Wharton is my dream and I want to reapply as ED to finalize the battle for my destiny at this point (sorry for this weird lexicon, I was reading too much fiction)
I didn’t apply as ED because I was starting my own cosmetic brand and due to COVID I couldn’t get it produced in time (international delivery problems). So I waited till regular but unfortunately it still wasn’t enough time so I included that info in my waitlist form and the slight success I had with selling them however the question now comes down to if they read my waitlist form and if it’s interesting enough.
Well, something similar with me. This summer I’ve won the first place in national economics olympiad, now preparing for the international economic olympiad. I think that this achievement is highly beneficial for my academic history and could be the change-maker, but again, will they read my waitlist letter?
alright update us then!
Guys, actually the best way is to go to whatever college and work your tail off and do meaningful ECs and get good grades (my son’s professors all gave him very good LORs), then try transfer next year.
My son gave up UVA last year and went to our state flagship with full ride (tuition, housing and meal covered) and applied transfer this year. So far he got accepted into UPenn, Duke and Emory. He also landed a NSF sponsored summer REU research job ($6,000 and a free $2,000 laptop) this summer.
Colleges give much more weight on your college performance instead of HS’s things.
10th call to Admissions after Commitment Day:
I asked whether or not the waitlist will be sued this year. The person said that they can’t provide information and if they do use it, it’ll be release in May, June and possibly July. Then I asked if this was a standardized answer (about possibly not using the waitlist) they give each year or is it just due to circumstances this year. He said that there’s a possibility each year but he also mentions they only accepted a certain amount of people and those people did apply to other schools so in most cases they do use the waitlist.
I also asked if they offer transfer options and the answer was no.
I understand your frustration, but WL is a “soft rejection”. Keep on calling will not increase your chances of getting in UPenn.
we can still have hope and calling is useful even if it does or doesn’t help your application
You mentioned you haven’t committed to any school yet. If you’re intending to take a gap year and reapply please take into consideration that you’ll really have less than 6 months to accomplish anything to add to your application since ED is November and RD is Jan 1. @Transfer20212025 is correct that you’ll have a much better chance of acceptance at Penn if you’re applying as a transfer from college with a fresh set of amazing grades, LORs and ECs. Just something to think about .
I understand that calling wouldn’t increase my chances at all since my identity is never asked for but personally it makes me feel at bit relaxed and not as stressed out.
Thank you, I’ll consider that but what I’ve been worrying about is if I attend a not so good college (like way below Penn level) would that make them hesitant to take me?
