I know I'll find out in 5 days, but I just decided to make an account on here and see what you all think about my chances. Thank you for your time!

I'm pretty concerned about my critical reading score being so low, but hopefully the other things will make up for it.

NOTE - I did play for the band/orchestra director at Penn in October, who said he needs more bassoon players and would write a letter to admissions for me.

Um, so, I’m pretty much sure you have very little chance of being rejected or deferred. Like, I’m no admissions counselor, but really? I can’t imagine the adcom turning down an applicant with three legitimate ties to the school and stats that fit directly into Penn’s middle 50% ranges. And applying ED definitely can’t’ve hurt you!

You have a good shot; you have the right statistics and the last bit will push you in I think. You’re probably the only ED applicant I’ve read so far who I think deserves to get in. Good luck!

I think you have a really nice shot of getting in. Family ties are very strong, the rec letter from the orchestra director should help too; plus, your stats are good enough for UPenn. Hope you get in; good luck :)

I actually did a second time, but the critical reading only increased by 10 points, math stayed the same at 800, and writing dropped to 740 or 750.

I guess we all have our Kryptonite. DS got 780M, 800CR and 710W on his last SAT1 last year. Prior writing scores were 690 and 690.
Good luck!
I’m sure you’ll do well wherever you go!

No - I was born in Philly, raised in Southern NJ all my life. I have dual citizenship, but American citizenship is what counts. I have an American passport and all of that.
