UPenn Nursing 2020

Haha yes!!! @gossipgirll congrats! …and that’s how it sounded when I talked to a student too. I’m so glad! March 31 come sooner…

Hey I got a likely too!! Still deciding but I will be def at Quaker Days! Can’t wait to meet everyone

Because I can’t go to Quaker days, I’m going to be visiting on March 29, and I believe that I’m going to have a meeting with Marianne Smith and talk to an undergraduate nursing student for lunch. So excited!

Hi everyone. Congratz on your LLs! I did not get one unfortunately, but I was wondering if any of you applied to the NHCM program? NHCM was my top choice, School of Nursing is my second school choice.

I heard that LLs are only sent to Nursing students this year, but is NHCM included? I was just wondering if any applicant received a LL from this program? Thanks in advance!

I didn’t apply for NHCM, just School of Nursing

@chubii @RunnerGirl2213 hey guys congratulations on your letters! I can’t make the Quaker days which I’m really upset about but penn nursing is like a family so we’ll all meet eventually. Where is everyone here from?

I’m from southern California! @meghann33

Northern California!

Delaware

Hey @chubii @kgeisch! Did you guys get e-mails to sign up for Quaker Days?! I just got one, but when I click on it it says “you do not meet the criteria for registering for this event.”

Oh, nevermind… all is good now! It scared me for a while! I guess they updated!

@RunnerGirl2213 I did! maybe check again because when I clicked on it, it lead me to the registration page

A couple smaller ones

-short explanation on recs/essays
Common App was on my Advanced Anatomy class and my supplement was really specific to Penn nursing

So my recs… one is from my APUSH teacher, and the other is from my Journalism advisor/english teacher… but I’m majoring in science.
I also had a rec from a supervisor from clinic that was really good I think

-additional information
I’m a female Asian American.
The above mentioned “Anatomy” refers to a class we have at our school. The thing is, this program is really unique to a high school, so if you know it, this one class can almost give away my identity (down to 28 people at least.)
It’s a cadaver based class, where the students (there are 28 of us) get to dissect real cadavers. It’s basically like a first year medical human anatomy class, according to my teacher.

If anyone wants to read my essays, just ask and I’ll PM you them

I would like to take a look at your essay! my stats are similar to yours except you have better test scores and experience with medical extracurriculars. I’m an Asian American female as well. idk I just really hope I got in because I got waitlisted and rejected to some of my top choices already and I’m almost hopeless :-S did you happen to get a call from the UPENN nursing department in mid-february?

I got a call from Ms. Smith from Penn Nursing in mid-February. I wish I knew how many applicants get called and how it translates to admission chances.

I wish more Penn Nursing applicants would share what they’ve experienced.

I pm’d you my essays! And yes I got a call from Marianne a while back
@bongdali

@northstarfx I contacted Marianne before Christmas for the NHCM program and she emailed me (I think it was a generic email sent to many) around mid-Feb asking me when I would be up for a call in which she would answer any questions I may have. She said she would love to meet me in person some day. I guess it is a good sign? But from what I’ve seen in this thread, many have been reached out by her, so I’m not 100% sure. @chubii would you mind if I read you essay as well? I think mine was too major-focused - I didn’t really express my interests towards areas other than nursing :frowning: Thanks in advance!
