UPenn Official Transfer Thread Fall 2007

Or they changed how they do transfer admissions because of the long, frustrating wait many applicants went through last year. I imagine the admissions office was flooded with a lot of calls.

i dont think people will hide if they got rejected, it is upenn, nobody expect them get in for sure. I think upeen try to send out the acceptance decisions first because much more people will be rejected.

FYI

"We are announcing the transfer decisions soon, many today at 5, but not all, you will definitely hear by the end of the month."

you got this from the call TODAY??

They're releasing at 5!?

ok I need to stop fretting over this. I still have two finals left and I feel like I'm going insane.

email...today...

i guarantee if we haven't heard yet, we are prob rejected. Congrats to the accepts. None of this makes sense to be honest. I was wlisted at Columbia and Dartmout and many of the accepted kids at Penn, so far are those who got w.listed and rejected at those 2. But knowing my luck, I am prob gonna be rejected.

I guess it's back to my school next yr, and the trimester system and the windy city.

Accepted to CAS! Just found out online.

Ok. Everyone, CALM DOWN. I have interesting news.

Got on the phone today again with Liz O'Connell, and we had a nice chat for a few minutes. I raised some of the questions that have come up in this thread, like the unfounded assertions that those of us who have not yet heard are by default, rejected. She assured me that this is NOT the case.

Though they are releasing decisions on a 'rolling' basis, they are not 'rolling ADMISSIONS.' This is incredibly important to realize. It was explained to me that what happens is as follows:

Decisions are NOT based on telling the strongest applicants at the beginning and then rejecting the weak ones last. This would be unfair and even unethical.

Decisions are made by committees in each of the schools INDIVIDUALLY. It is not comparable to Freshmen Admittees because the deans of each school meet.

When those deans make a decision, they post it. End of story. Decisions are made, decisions are posted. There is absolutely no credibility to you, chanman, in speculating the 'clues' surrounding this. I do not mean this offensively, I am only to trying to liven your spirits, along with my own.

Do not give it up quite yet. Liz also told me decisions will be coming out until the end of the MONTH. Though that really sucks, it doesn't mean NO. Just wait it out. What will be, will be. There is no logic or theory--they just release the decisions when they are ready at random. There is no point at looking at past years--they are always updating and changing and switching policies.

Now, face the enemy of waiting, but not failure. There is still time.

oh and dhh, 5pm today you say?!!?? please elaborate.

julesf23 & chanman -- This is an email that I received today after inquiring about release dates. Read the entire thing! ("many today at 5, but not all")

How can people do so well in school but still not be able to read one sentence from start to finish?

1/2 an hour to go.

i've pushed the refreshed key about 1000 times today.

we are so ridiculous lol

We're not even guaranteed to get a decision at 5...I'm pretty sure I won't be able to because they dont' have my final grades...

final grades don't matter.

i don't think that they need final grades to make your decision but they require them to maintain that decision given that it was an acceptance

Err they don't have my midterm grades either. An adcom has been e-mailing me back and forth trying to get grades sent to her, but I'm not even in New York anymore so it's not possible...idk what to do really...I submitted a request to have a transcript sent as soon as the grades were completed...

to everyone that DID NOT receive a decision... did you apply on the due date or very close to it???

i applied close to the deadline....WHY?

i sent mine on the deadline, received my decision in the first wave

good luck to yall, im rooting for u chanman!
