UPenn Official Transfer Thread Fall 2007

27-30 of August, correct?

no, it starts on the 29th and classes begin the 5th

sorry my bad :)

:( still no decision on the wesite.

how did everyone else find out who were notified today? Email? Letter? going on the website?

Hey all!! Going to Penn in the fall! I think we should have a CC transfer students at Penn lunch at Cosi or something!

^^^ the CC penn transfer ppl def should hv a lunch 2gether

:)

OK.

It has been an incredible past 48 hours. I just would like to express my genuine gratitude to all of you for the comments and concerns and information you have posted on this thread. I relied on a new post when my decision still wasn't up online, I read through info over and over again while I bit my nails waiting, and somehow, it all seemed to soothe my nerves knowing others were in the EXACT SAME PLACE AS ME. For those of us who have been accepted, I think it is a GRAND idea to plan a lunch (though we will probably meet at orientation without knowing that we were 'julesf23' or 'florazhao,' so an organized 'CC' get-together would be awesome). For those interested in the lunch thing email me at julie.foubert@gmail.com with your name and I will start a Facebook group later in the summer.

That aside, I also wanted to respond publicly to a PM I received from vcoleman about my decision.

I received a package in the mail.

I was NOT notified online.

There is STILL (letter dated on the 17th, so here we are, 5 days later) NOTHING online.

Nothing was included about a waitlist.

As I have mentioned before, I do not believe there is a waitlist. Yes, it is a f***ed up system, but remember, part of the reason we all applied was because it is an amazing institution; rightfully, they WOULD have a bit of the 'we don't need you, you need us,' attitude. Just wait it out. What will be, will be. Think about it: numbers, weeks, days--though some can logically deduce that there is some type of waitlist, people have been receiving decisions every couple of days now that we've hit 'MID-FRICKIN-MAY.' Don't doubt yourself because of the 'wait-list' theory.

Below is what my letter read:

'It gives me great pleasure to invite you to attend the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Pennsylvania as a member of the class entering in September 2007. The members of this year's transfer class were chosen by a very personal selection process during which admissions officers and faculty reviewed over 2,000 applications in search of individuals whose abilities and talents would enrich the undergraduate experience at the University.

As we invite you to become a part of the Penn tradition, we encourage you to explore the ways in which you could make your own unique contribution to this distinguished heritage of academic excellence, social leadership, and cultural advancement. A distinguished faculty, nationally recognized academic departments, and opportunities for combined graduate and undergraduate study, in addition to an extensive program of social and cultural activities, combine to make this campus a lively and challenging environment in which to pursue your course of study.

<2 paragraphs about eval about fin aid coming later and then the whole 'send your final grades! warning>

On behalf of the Penn community and the Admissions staff, I would like to congratulate you warmly on your excellent scholastic and personal achievements. If there are questions with which we might be helpful, or if you have not yet visited the campus and would like to do so, please do not hesitate to let us assist you. We are looking forward to seeing you in September.

Sincerely, Willis J. Stetson *(NOT EVEN REAL PEN. SHEESH.)"

THAT'S IT!

I think lunch is a great idea. I am from Drexel University, right next door to UPenn, so I know where not to eat if you are interested.

What is everyone doing for housing? What were peoples number one picks?

and when are you planning this lunch thing?

For those interested in the lunch thing email me at julie.foubert@gmail.com with your name and I will start a Facebook group later in the summer.

haha i love how i feel like im practically the only one who hasn't heard yet... that's never a good sign

Chanman?????? Has he heard?

i haven't heard yet either :(

i haven't heard yet :(

guys, remember when i posted how decisions (some) were going out last Thursday. That lady was clearly not lying. Some decisions (very few) went out, as evident by the postmark date on my acceptance package. She said, if you do not hear from that batch, you will not be hearing until June (early). Good luck. I

i havent heard either! :( but im going to ask my mom to check her mailbox today

Jules, is your online account updated. It still says "no decision available." I am gonna call tommorow to ask about that. I mean, I have the package but the account is not updated.....

i still haven't heard yet.. but the rest of us are definitely hearing on June 1st. apparently over half of the CAS applicants have been informed and the remaining will be decided upon when the transfer admissions directors and steston come back from california next week... i got this information when i stopped by the office on tuesday

although I got in, I would love to know how the order is decided in which they proceed. I submitted my application a day before it was due. I never even got a card with my log in info. I had to send for it through email and I got it. Good luck to everyone.

What are the transfer admissions ppl doing in California? That's where I am right now... so maybe I could bribe them....
