I think we should start a facebook group for the accepted transfer class...

Start one.

K guys, I will start a Facebook Group entitled, "UPenn Transfers 2007." Through this, we can set up that lunch, talk about housing, blah blah blah. WHOOT! To join, however, you have to be friends with me--so facebook me and I will 'friend' you asap. (Julie Foubert)

Good luck to everyone who hasn't heard yet!

group has been created!

i made it global and accessible, so we don't have to be friends--didn't realize you could do that. just search, "UPenn Transfers 2007" and it should pop up!

i just called in

the decisions go ONLINE on june 1

I guess the June 1 batch were given on the feedback of accepted students whether they will take the offer or decline it

flora, when is the deadline for your reply ? (when do you have to tell them yes or no by?)

if we havent been rejected yet, and have been told that we will hear on june 1, does that mean we are INTERNALLY WAITLISTED???

This is my guess. Let's think about this rationally. For the last 2 months before they notified people, they definitely were looking at I think all of the aps. I think then they coded aps as accepts, rejects, and maybes. I think then the committee then needs to approve all of them. The accepts go through routinely and the rejects are just sent a packing. The maybes I think are left for the later committee.

i'm sure june 1st is just something they say to everyone.
you should find out anytime from now to june 1st.

that's what i think. i randomly got in and my decision is not online.
the system appears to be messed.

they looked at my app FOR SURE in early early may.

my admission officer emailed me back and forth regarding my app

and i still have NOT received my decision yet

i have been waitlisted

answer to Chanman

my package was mailed on on May 10th I have 3weeks to think so I just checked the calender that is roughly June1

I guess maybe its like a waitlist thing

well ladies and gentlemen....i suppose we have one more week to know whether or not we made it off this mysterious pseudo-internal waitlist...

good luck..not just on acceptance, but on making it through this final hideously torturous week

This system is confusing me.

I emailed my representative today, and I got an auto reply.

If decisions are to be released June 1st...and she is returning May 31st...uh.

That means we're already determined to be accepted or rejected.

i think you guys are looking way too much into this -_-
just be patient!

Dear Raj,

I wanted you to know that we received your official grades on Monday.

Based on our previous e-mails I wanted to confirm that you would be willing to take a Calculus two course and macro over the summer, should the committee review your application with this condition in mind. I know that you have Valdosta State as an option.

I think the committee's final question would be, given that you are going to South Africa over the summer, when and how would you complete these courses?

Again, thank you for keeping in touch. I will be out of the office the rest of the day into next Thursday. In answering these questions, I ask that you "reply all" so that my colleague Elizabeth O'Connell, the Director of Transfer Admissions, has the answers to these questions before the selection committee next week.

Best of Luck,
Beth Ann

So I've e-mailed the community college in my town asking them if I can take the course after I get back, even though it'd be late registration and late getting into the class. I think this means that if I can get the classes done, I'll probably be accepted. But how the hell am I supposed to get these courses done? I'm in South Africa until June 20.

This solution might be a stretch but maybe you can derive some similar options from it.

I'd look into online courses that you can complete anywhere in the world that has Internet connection.
I'm in California, so i'm only familiar with online courses around my area:
http://www.smconline.org/index.real?action=Catalog#economics

I didn't find Calc II in the places I usually check but I googled some:
http://continue.utah.edu/distance/index.php

I'm a bit nervous about putting that link up there because I myself have never tried it but hey...incase you're really screwed and can't find anything...something is better than nothing. Plus, time is running out to register for summer courses.

Hopefully you can find similar online courses that are closer to you. Good luck.

*EDIT: I forgot but maybe you could try asking them if you could take the Calc II departmental final at the end of summer. Cornell has a policy where it does that=> http://www.cals.cornell.edu/cals/current/registrar/current-students/transfer/ap.cfm

I also got an email asking if I would commit to taking a calculus course over the summer. Does anybody know if these emails were sent to applicants flagged to be admitted on the condition that they agree to finish up their prerequisites, or if they are simply a quick way to weed out a few more applications before the committee meets to make final decisions?

Thanks!

are they meeting the day before decisions are due out? in that case it would seem like they have already made a decision on apps and are simply waiting to consider the last bit, the e-mail responses.

do they actually sit in a room and discuss applicants
