UPenn Official Transfer Thread Fall 2007

well nobody's perfect

And what makes you think that?

i see -___-

rejectedfromMIT, did you talk to them yet? hope it all works out.

do I have to talk to them?

am I in danger if I got a 2.8 GPA although I got an A+ in my major subject? Do you I think I should call UPenn?

how did you get an A+ after failing your exam? or was that a different class?
And you should definitely call just to ease your mind. But since you didn't fail any classes I would say you're ok.

Has anyone gotten their credit transfer report yet? It's been at least 3 weeks since I got my decision and it still hasn't come yet...

so who is going to Upenn?

I am supposed to go to UPenn, I don't know if they will revoke my admission because of that 2.8.

Should I wait until I'm done with my summer courses and raising my GPA and then send the Spring 2007 transcript or should I just send it now? and would it be helpful if I had one of my professors write me a letter saying that I'm still doing good in studies?

I would notify them as soon as possible and speak to someone about it.

i got my penn key, how do i get email??

does anybody know if there will be seats reserved for us transfers since SEAS and Wharton students won't be able to register for classes until August 29th, or are we going to do nothing 1st semester since all classes will be full

does anyone have the transfer rates for Wharton and CAS? cause I know CAS is supposed to be higher, just dunno how muc higher...

hey! for everyone who applied as a transfer student to upenn for fall 2007, i was wondering if you guys could help me decide if i actually have a chance.
i attend rutgers university.
my stats:
h.s.: 3.42 GPA
sats: 1300 (m+v)
college: 3.6 GPA (not definite, b/c term is not over)
courses: gen. bio 101 w/lab, calc 1, italian 101, expository writing

Hey, I am also trying to transfer to Penn from Yeshiva University
3.7 college gpa
high school gpa doesn't exist because I am a rather non traditional student. I went to an all religious Jewish high school that doesn't actually give out grades for the standard courses you might expect to see.
I got a fairly unusual SAT score and I am retaking them. CR 800 M580(hence the retaking)and W770
no high school extra curriculars (school went from 7-10 so not much time)
In college I am a techie for the dramatics society and involved in several literacy programs.hopefully I can get some more EC's and raise the abysmal math score to something closer to 700. any shot?

hey simchamo. your SAT score as a whole is really good. i had people from my high school who got in with scores similar to yours. Plus i think your high school, and college GPA count more, so i am not sure if you should retake your SATs. i think upenn will like that you come from a different background. are you applying to any other schools? i am also apply to nyu and barnard.

yeah I may apply to NYU. I am applying to University of Virginia ( 3rd generation
legacy) Cornell, Columbia, JHU, Wash U and if all else fails, Rutgers( not to bash rutgers). I am somewhat concerned that the schools I am applying to won't know the difference between jewish and orthodox. Just being jewish doesnt count as unusual but right wing orthodox jews in college, could be counted on my hand especially from the community I am from.

Bumpity bump

I am applying this year as well.

Hi! I'm applying to Penn too:

3.72 college GPA from Vassar College; Psychology major with possible mathematics correlate sequence + pre-med (possibly)
B+/A- high school record (supercompetitive no-GPA NYC private), graduated with Honors in Japanese and English
760V 700M 770W, but I'm not retaking the SAT, NJ "distinguished scholar" award, NMS semifinalist
HS extracurriculars: writing for several magazines, publicity committee on several clubs
College extracurriculars: DJ for WVKR, Vassar College Radio; on-campus work-study job (for kicks, not for financial aid requirements); research at Columbia University over the summer

Chance me, please?
