and to answer other peoples questions, just by reading posts in here, i got my comfirmation card like 2 weeks b4 most of the people in here but no, i havent received any emails about my decision being available this week or anything, so im not sure what order theyre going in

Right, so I don't see how they would send rejected/accepted out at the same time, it makes sense for it to be one (hopefully accepted students haven't been notified yet!)

Just out of curiosity, does the major matter while they make decisions? or is it strictly the school that they would look at?

if ur applying to penn bc its one of the only schools that offers a major u want.. or bc penn has a much more accredited and recognized major than the one at ur school... then it would help bc ur not just picking penn to go to penn

but if ur applying from like mit with engineering major to like penn's like communication major...i dont think that would help u very much

what i meant was that they probably send letters to the people theyre sure they are rejecting and sure they are accepting first... the definites on both sides

im positive there is not some thing like the people who get sent to later are all rejections, thats never been true for a school... but they may send out their definite decisions at first

i think there probably is a risk involved, but if its necessary bc of other schools accepted you and you need to know what Penn's deal is, i think it wouldnt hurt you... it shows that youd rather go to Penn too

i wouldnt do it if you were just curious however

Spoke twice to transfer admissions. Last week in April and just last week. Last week in April told that they haven't even begun to review apps, still getting everybody's info together. Last week, told Thursday is the day the committee gets back together to only start reviewing transfer apps. Now that was along with my daughter's app being lost, so take my 2 cents for what its worth.

i called them the 27th to make sure my college transcript got there, and the guy said there was no way to know because the applications were all over the table

i took that to mean that they were reviewing them... but idk... if you read some of the posts from last years UPenn transfer thread there were a lot of complaints about the efficiency of their transfer admissions

why did someone come to believe they would be out on the 7th?

I dont know that much about your personal situation TerrariumOrbis, I was only going on what i read in the gtown forum about people who asked for an expedited decision.

If I were you I would try every tactic available to get the $150 deadline extended (try speaking to a supervisor or manager not just the students who work at the admissions office). if you can not afford it, if you can then i would just pay it.
anyway good luck and i hope you will get into your top choice.

Just to let everyone know, I called Penn YESTERDAY. The lady with whom I spoke was very friendly. She told me that near the end of this week they will begin releasing some decisions, but most of the decisions will be coming out closer to the end of next week. That truly is 'mid-May,' their favorite phrase. She said that some decisions haven't even been made yet. So: I don't think Penn necessarily has an inefficient method with us transfers, it's just that they had to finish with the giant group of freshman. Now, they can completely turn their attention to us.

Remember guys, Penn will send you an email/a letter in the mail notifying you that your decision is ready online. So STOP obsessively checking the website. They'll tell us. We just have to wait it out.

A note on the extension/expedited decision--I was accepted to WashU, and managed to push that deadline back over a month. Yesterday was the deadline, so I put down $450 that I may never see again. You just have to look at it as a sunk cost toward an education at UPenn, which is what we're all aiming for here. I would not ask for an expedited decision, as chances are, if you force them to decide, the answer will be no. They have 2000 other apps from whom to choose, remember. It is in your best interest to relax, put down the money at your other school, and wait for an answer to come. It will come.
