UPenn Tranfer Chances

I’m a Sophomore at Ohio State looking to transfer next semester, and my top choice is UPenn. I’m in the honors program at OSU, but my GPA is kind of low (3.3). I would be applying to transfer as a communications student (I was Molecular Genetics, then switched to business but know I wouldn’t get into Wharton).

My extra-curricular involvement is good (E-board positions in 2 clubs and on a committee for another), and I know I could get great recommendations from professors. I’ll need to retake the ACT in January as my scores from high school have expired.

I had a strategic communications internship with a well-known consulting firm last summer (after my Freshman year) and am completing a winter externship with the firm now, so I’m set in terms of experience. I could also get great recommendations from my bosses there.

If I got say a 34+ on my ACT, would I have a shot at getting in as a fall transfer? Anyone have experience in transferring to an Ivy with a lower GPA?

Your SAT is pretty low for an Ivy League transfer. Apply, but apply to some more realistic schools as well. (Note: UPenn is a reach for EVERYONE, so I’d be giving you that advice if you had a 3.9, too).

I was accepted at UPenn as a transfer. I went to Brown though. Message me if you need some help.
