Upgrading UT EID

So in order to active my financial aid notification which is due on May 21, I have to have my UT EID upgrade. They requires me to physically come to the campus to do this. I did some research and it appears that they would let me upgrade my UT EID online, temporarily for 90 days. So I download the form and all but on the form it says:
"Go to a notary public. Bring a government-issued photo ID, like a driver's license, to verify your identity.
Sign the Request for UT EID Upgrade (below) in the presence of the notary. Have the request notarized."

Can somebody explain to me what a notary public is and where can I find one?

@foafoa Notaries are just officials who witness you signing a document. They then put a stamp on the document and it is “notarized”. You can find them at most banks.

Thank you so much, that help.

Are all EID upgrades due before May 21st? I talked to a Dallas admission counselor and he told me they could be updated during the summer orientations?..

There is no due date for EID upgrade but I have to do it in order to receive financial aid. At least that is what the system said to me.

If I were to go to UT next week (on a Friday…) what office would I even go to to update my uteid? I’m kind of confused :(

@lovechickfila Check out the information here: http://www.utexas.edu/its/help/idcenter/1143</a>
It’s an office called UT Austin ID Center.

If you live in or near Arlington, El Paso, San Antonio or Odessa, they have office there that you can visit for your convenience.

foafoa - my son was able to accept his financial aid online without upgrading the EID. You have to complete before class registration and most students do it during orientation. Not sure why yours would be different?

I think it’s just me being too careful.

chickfila, you will probably need to go to FAC ground floor to up date your ID. Although you may have to pay a small fee at the cashiers, which is on the first floor of the tower, but I think that can be paid online.
