Urgent Help Required....

I am an international student and my admission notifications from all colleges have finally come out. Its time for me to make my final decision between
1-Michgan, Ann Arbor
2-Univ. of Illinois, Urbana Champaign
3-Georgia Institute of Technology
4-Purdue University.
I am interested in joining the COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING. Leaving out the financial, climatic and geographical aspects of these univs., I want to know which of these is best not only in terms of academics, but also in terms of
-student body friendliness
-course load
-attention from Professors
-asian/indian population, clubs
-best placement options after undergraduation
-chances of getting into a prestiged grad school (like MIT Caltech, etc)after undergraduation from these univs
-industrial recognition of graduates from these univs, etc.
I hope the replies that I get will help me in making the perfect choice.
Thanks

I would go onto Facebook and find someone who goes there (to each of the schools). If you're lucky, you might get someone who doesn't mind answering your questions....I would, but I have no idea.

You should seriously consider either UIUC or GTech. UIUC has a very good engineering school (currently ranked #4) while GTech's rank is #6. Although UIUC is almost 1.5 times as expensive as GTech, its very good for certain engineering programs such as Comp.Engg. and Civil Engg. However, Urbana does tend to get very cold during the winters, whereas Atlanta enjoys lovely weather throughout the year. GTech, as opposed to UIUC, is a pure engg. and tech. school. Most of its programs are ranked very high and GTech is very well acknowledged as an engineering school. GTech is the only school apart from MIT to have all its programs ranked in the top 10. One of my seniors (currently attending GTech) said that Bose recruits heavily from CalTech, MIT and GTech. Atlanta has a high indian population and so does GTech (I don't know bout UIUC). One of the biggest plus points is that GTech is located in the heart of Atlanta, a city that is very well connected to the rest of the world. Urbana is a couple of hundred miles away from Chicago.

If Finances and Climatic conditions are not issues, then I recommend that you take UIUC. But don't leave GTech behind in your analysis. Ask others for opinions.

As for me, I too got an inviting offer from UIUC for Mech. Engg., but I'd rather spend less money and attend an equally reknowned engineering school i.e GTech.

Georgia Tech has the 3rd best engineering from the sources I know. All of my friends have gotten jobs straight out of school and are in demand. Georgia Tech is VERY diverse which is great and has a very large Indian population. Some of the teachers are distant, but I think any research school has that problem. The courses are very hard, but Georgia Tech is recognized so highly a little lower of a GPA is okay.
