(Urgent since the registration deadline's today)

I'm applying to the most selective schools, and I think I have a good shot at getting in considering GPA etc.

My current SAT is 2330, but all the points off are on the reading. I had an 80 on the PSAT reading and I definitely think I can pull the 730 up. Would it make any difference to admissions departments at ultraselective schools if I did improve my 730?

^ dude, that's completely irrelevant.
It doesn't matter if some kid who plans on going to a lower tier school thinks "wow, what a tool. I had a way lower score, and he's trying to raise his?!!"
The OP isn't applying to those schools. He's probably applying to HYPS. At those schools, a 2400 makes a difference.

:) to :)
The curve is something like 2 questions wrong max for an 800 generally, right? If that's the case, I'd probably have a bit under a 50% chance of getting it.
Thanks for the input.

If you don't know anything about the ACT, chances are you won't score a 36.

Now, regarding your question: YES, it will make a difference if you pull your 730 up. Granted, a 2330 and 2350 are not distinguishable, but anything above ~2370 will make a difference. Also, it's no secret that CR is the hardest section, and so it helps to have that at 770-800.

It can only help you: all really selective schools superscore, so you won't be hurt by a lower score.
