i have two friends and two issues and i'm hear to help them out and see what u guys think...

case 1

student got into and will be attending UCSC but will be getting a D in Spanish for second semester, senior year.

is she in deep s h i t or will it be very possible to write a letter explaining her problem...will UCSC look past that or is she basically gonna get

case 2

another friend, same situation, except her class was Precalculus and she'll be getting a D also...but she got in and plans on attending UC Davis. How much trouble will she have, getting UC Davis to look past the second semester D in precalc?

I don't really know a -lot- about it, but my brother is a current UCSC resident and he only took 2 years of french. I -think- she'll be fine, just the last semester of Spanish won't count.
For UC Davis, I actually have no idea -- I guess it runs on the same system as UCSC but math is a little bit more important than a language.

as long as your friend has 2 years of language with c or better in 4 semesters your friend will be fine, i can guarantee it.

however if this D that your friend will receive in the second semester of spanish, and it's their 2nd year of spanish, their admissions will most likely get rescinded. the only thing your friend can do in this situattion is go to community college for the summer to make up that semester of spanish.

the same thing goes for your friend and precalculus. if your friend already has 3 years of math done with c or better, they will still be able to attend UC Davis. However if the second semster grade of Pre Calculus would have equaled the 3rd year, meaning their 6th semester of math, then UC Davis willn ot let them in.

As long as your friends meet the requirements, there is no reason as to why they would get rejected. if they don't meet all the a-g requirements by the time they graduate they are not going to any of the uc's.
