same page with you bro. Even though I dont like you, atleast we understand something others dont. good luck

I don't know about you guys, but I'd love to live in DHA's world, where apparently discrimination no longer exists. Sadly, I don't. I hear the N-word on a daily basis, not from the mouths of African-Americans but from Caucasians who obviously didn't get DHA's memo that discrimination is a thing of the past.

Just my two cents.

Have a fabulous day!

And would like to live in your world as well. Unfortunately in my world, whenever someone passes he/she is called a cracker and a spick (and not by white people) and where the N-word is heard by individuals greeting each other. Have you guys ever stopped to think that maybe the discrimination is directed at the ghetto attitude? Maybe the Un-necessarily large t-shirts, god-awful ravaging of the queen's English and a condescending demeanor play a role? I have been with black individuals in major white populated areas. Actually my friend Akpanalouo, and he dresses and speaks the same way I do. A hispanic and black kid walk down the streets of heavily european Upper-middle class Boston suburbs, and they are never discriminated against... Maybe its the attitude these so-called victims causes the discrimination towards them?

To "Victims" of discrimination: Dress proper, speak correctly and be courteous and I guarantee you that you will not be discriminated against.

wow DHA, you're truly are living in a fantasy world. I am middle classed and dress "proper" (as you so eloquently and ignorantly put it) and speak well. To this day i am followed in stores and assumed to be ignorant because i have braided hair. The fact that you believe people deserve to be discriminated against if they don't dress what white people consider "proper" proves that prejudice is still rampant. People should be judge on the "content of their character" no matter if the way they were raised produced a different way of speaking or dressing then what you (and the white communitity) consider correct.

Word :) :)

This is has now become the most pointless thread in the history of pointlessness.

:)WORD:)

won't someone talk about URM chances or something

someone get some stats for URMS accepted or something useful and interesting........

apfreak, you just won't let this go will you? You're completely obssessed. The only statistics for minority acceptance rate is on the following web page which I have posted up numerous times:

Dude, dude, dude, dude....I am being SARCASTIC in a dull way...I simply wantthis thread to focus on more...pertinent....issues.

Please ...will no one else start whining! :)

hmm Does being an International URM count? I'm an African living in Europe.

I'd like to meet the guy who claims he can get any hispanic with 1350 sat scores into any ivy league college. This was stated in the web site so often referred to on this site.http://www.asianam.org/statistics%20reverse.htm

oh my word! Que Asco!

You know, i REALLY REALLY regret having made this thread long ago...and I wish it would just die.

How can a college tell if you're economically disadvantaged. I go to private skool but I'm like really poor., lol (I recieve financial aid.) I mean, they can't see your income, supposedly, so how can they tell? Parents' background, etc?

They make an educated guess based on avg income for your area, whether or not your parents went to college, whether or not you applied for fin aid, etc.

they can just check your household income through some credit check control.

so being a poor URM is like a double advantage?

Gkilla, it depends on who you ask. Many would say that poor URMs are so diverse that they have a huge advantage. Others would say that poor URMs can't pay for the college and thus are at a disadvantage. I don't think that it matters at ivys because their financial aid is so huge.

I know HYP have a policy that give full financial aid to child who's family makes under 45K. Anyone know the # for upenn??

That number actually varies at HYP depending on on the school. At Harvard, it is full aid for less than $40,000 and "significantly reduced" between $40K and $60K. But if you want information on Penn's financial aid information, post it on the penn board...
