US History SAT II Subject Test - Using AP review books to study for the subject test?

I'm taking the test tomorrow, and this entire time I've been reviewing with Barrons U.S History Sat book. Just now I started looking through the threads and saw that mostly everyone thought Barrons was crap.To be honest I think so too, it's not that they provide too much information (I actually quite like SOME of the details) but that the unnecessary details are emphasized over important details. I learned more about the state of Maryland than the Three-fifth's compromise which wasn't even called the three-fifth's compromised in the book or bolded.

Anyways, I took the AP US History test this past May and so I have Sparknotes and REA (when I purchased those books there wasn't any other option, because well...I purchased them like a week before I took the actual test though I think I did well). I know that the AP is much broader (or so I've heard). I don't have time to buy another subject test book because it's tomorrow, so would using my AP review books be sufficient?

Has anyone studied with these and took the subject test? How different is the multiple choice in the subject test compared with the AP multiple choice questions? Or should I tough it out with Barrons? (Does barrons at least cover everything that I need to know even if I overstudy? I don't know what exactly to weed out).

REA Crash Course basically provides everything you need to know, with the exception of the 1970s and 1980s.

@kirstr Thanks! Yeah I’ve been reading through Sparknotes (i think they mark key bills and features the best) and then going to REA for details related to social things like books published etc.

Where should we study the 70s and 80s?
