US History study plan

Hello,

I’m an international student living in India. I just received my SAT Math L2 score and I scored a 800. I have now decided to take the Physics and US History subject tests.

I need help in making a study plan for the US History test. I have the AMSCO and I have ordered the Barrons book. I haven’t studied US History because there is no course offered at my school. This will be the first time I study it in depth.

For context, I can cram well and I finished the first chapter of AMSCO in 1 day. Now I guess that the subsequent chapters would require more than a day. I can dedicate an hour or two a day to prepare for the test. I’m aiming for 770+ and of course, I am ready to do whatever it takes for an 800. Physics, like Math was, will be easy to manage. I won’t be needing a lot of prep for that. So I can spend most of my time on US History test prep

I would appreciate it if someone could help me out with this.

Thanks in advance.

I have also reached chapter 3 of AMSCO and I have just received my copy of Barron’s USH book. I would really appreciate any help

Although I don’t take the test, I heard some information about USH prep of my friends. They said AMSCO is comprehensive and technically the only book you need, but it is too detailed and one can hardly remember all of it. You may try Direct Hits book of USH, which is like a summary of AMSCO. Barron’s is good.

Is this AMSCO? http://ma.lvlhs.org/ourpages/auto/2012/4/12/58446259/TOP%20REVIEW%20TEXTBOOK.pdf

Also, what other books do you guys suggest? REA Crash Course?

What about the college boards official studyguide?

In addition to AMSCO, I would also recommend using the Sparknotes guide: http://www.sparknotes.com/testprep/books/sat2/history/
I studied this the night before and it helped me score a 790! Good luck

Are you sure you wouldn’t prefer the world history test? I live in the US and still find USH difficult, although I somehow got a 4 on the APUSH exam. But if you do take USH I would recommend quizlet for facts and stuff like that.

@shadyconcepts Thank you for that link. I’ll make use of that.

@smithemi97 Well, it would but the only reason I’m taking USH is that I want to get standardised testing over by October. And WH is only offered in June and December.

Oh, I see. Well then, if you’re good at cramming I guess go for it

I’d also like to point out that many people think that USH is easier than World (including me!). Less topics that need to be covered and the curve is also pretty great.
