US History: Which prep book provides the best review of topics on the test?

I’m an international considering taking the US history subject test. I need a prep book which will prepare me well for the test since I don’t know much about the history of United States.

I just took the test yesterday and I used No Bull Review - For Use with the AP US History Exam and SAT Subject Test.
You can buy it from Amazon online. I thought it prepared me throughly for it.

I suggest three books for three different reasons. Heres a list:

  1. The Insiders Complete Guide to AP US History - This book is a must! Although the title says AP, it is extremely great for SAT as well.
  2. Barron’s - The SAT book for Barron’s was very detail oriented, and the practice tests were harder than the actual exam. It turned out all those details turned out to be useful. If you want a more general approach, I suggest getting their AP book as well.
  3. Kaplan - I have mixed reviews for this book. The practice tests are unreasonable, but the explanation are good at summarizing everything. Considering what you said, this book may not be the best for you, b/c you don’t know as much.

Good Luck!

Check out Amsco

I agree with AMSCO. I reviewed with that an PR and did very well

Does anybody know anything about the Official History study guide from the college board?

AMSCO’s definitely a good idea - most of the obscure information from the test (literature, arts, etc.) was reviewed in that book
