USA June 2011 SAT: MATHEMATICS Discussion Thread

The approximation was 20% I think. I got like 18.8 and 20 was the lowest of all the answer choices. I’m not sure if this was the same one you’re talking about.

@heyjjjaded yeah it was 10%. they were probably trying to throw some people off by making them add all the numbers but the values given were just the total number of people who had parking passes, not the number who got passes that month.

That’s weird because I got 9.96.

Im positive it was 10%
you had to subtract from the april from the previous month to find 122 in april, so 122/1224 is around 10%

Brolex, you tried to add up all the numbers and take the percentage of that. I did that same thing the first time, then I noticed it said “cumulative”

it was 10% because they gave cumulative. it was 822-700/1224 which is 10%

@kaptain I don’t remember anything about parking passes. What were the numbers in the question?

NOOOOOO I knew I did that approximation problem too superficially…I foolishly just added them up and got 18.8%, so I put 20% (B). Hopefully there’s a -1 = 790 curve!

does anyone know if the section with the remainder counted?

Haha D: It almost got me, too. Then I realized that it was the last question in the section so it should have been more difficult.

Does anyone know how to do “if both k and n are positive integers, n+n=kn, and k+k=kn” question? I had no idea :(

4
n and k are both 2

lets get a list of answers going

if n and k were 1, nk = 1. And n+k is not equal to nk.

true sorry. good think i didn’t put that as my answer :)

Aw dangit. Was the one with the triangle saying that if the sum of 2 sides is equal to twice the third side it asks you stuff about the third side.

I put none because I remembered something about the 3rd side of a triangle having to be LESS than the 2 sides combined but I’m not sure.

I put that it was an equilateral.

II equilateral triangle
@Brolex: sum of two sides of a triangle has to be greater than the remaining side.

yeah, i put equilateral

ok so far I know I got the April one wrong =/ dumb mistake
and i got the rope one wrong

does anyone think we’ll get a good curve?? I NEED a good math score

Damn, 2 wrong…my eyes skipped over the part of a n+n = nk problem that said n and k were postive integers. I put 0 -__- Ok, hopefully I that’s a 760.
