Is the application working for anyone? I keep getting this "It closed Mar. 15th" or something like that...

I live in Colorado Springs and they say around here that summer seminar is harder to get into than the academy itself!

Yea, i cant get anything.

I think that they just haven't updated the page and opened the page to the application, since everybody is on vacation. I highly doubted that they would open it last night, and they didn't, but I would give it a few more hours and expect it to open up sometime midday today.
The closed March 15th means that they haven't done anything to the page since they closed the application for SS2006

How long does it take to hear back for the SS? I've heard it takes as little as a couple hours...

Sigh Still not open :(

Last year AF responded to me by e-mail in about 2 days (I applied on first day, which was a holiday so they actually responded like the first day the staff got back to work from the holiday - it was amazingly quick). WP accepted me after about a month, maybe 6 weeks (right after I mailed an update with documentation of acceptance into NHS - it obviously had an impact) and Navy responded last, like in early May.

GonnaBeA2011,

What did your stats look like?

Funny Army passed, took my time with the USAFA app heard back late Feb/Early March. USNA accepted in Early April.
SAT for SS Math 580 Verbal 610 (now Math 610 Verbal 640)
GPA 4.75 (Academic Magnet School) Pre-Engineering Program
Attended NASA Space Camp and USAFA Teen Aviation Camp in 2005
NHS and JNHS
Presidential Award for Academic Excellence
Competed Nationally in AAU Tae Kwon Do (2nd place Sparring)
Civil Air Patrol
Band

I applied to USNA, USAFA, and USMA. Completed USNA 1st 1 nomination(waiting to hear), USAFA 2nd 3 nominations (waiting to hear) USMA last, 1 nomination Accepted to class of 2011. Moral of the story it is all a waiting game, and you never know who will invite you or when.

Did anyone have an interview with their ALO? Because I didn't... Will this put me behind?

Potterfan: What were you in CAP? What did you have for your writing SAT section?

Joshrk22: Nobody has had an interview with their ALO yet, assuming they are a junior, although they might have met them. You are not behind in the game because the rest of us are in just the same place, waiting for the interview in the summer/fall.

Why isn't it open yet!!!! Is the USAFA server down or something? Also, does it increase your chances of getting into SS if you send it in early?

It might not be open because of the extension of the holiday for President Ford's death. Just an idea.

no 10 char

I bet no one is workign today since its the first of the year, and they have the day off, try again tommorow.

Sending the app early will indeed improve your chances. Same for the AFA.

AFABound,

I guess I'm kinda' missing the point of them saying on the site "January 1st, 2007...."

They could've just said the date it was going to open...

I was a C/SrA when I applied. I am currently a C/MSgt and First Sergeant for my squadron. My writing score was a 570. They did not care about that score at the time. The Summer programs were great. I had a better time at Navy, but that is because I did not know what to expect. I had been to USAFA the year before through an Air Force Services program for dependents, and it was very similar to Summer Seminar. I got more exposure to actual cadets at Summe Seminar though. The biggest part is apply early and make sure they know you want to attend.

PotterFan,

About how long was your paragraph on your desire to attend the USAFA? Mine is only about 7-8 sentences, so I'm kinda' worried, should I make it longer?

I thought it was supposed to be a statement. Mine is a very long sentence.
