oh and question for those who were admitted without a spring grade request
did you still send them your spring grades or no?

Would love to get answers to my questions above.

Thanks in advance!

Supa_Ramga, if you're applying as a transfer, are you applying for sophomore or junior standing?

I am applying as a junior. My questions above still stand.

Thanks for your time!
And thanks in advance to whoever can answer my questions!

Supa_Ramga--No, USC does not interview transfer students.

SAT's are not required for college students who will have over 30 units.

Call them to ask about the transcript thing. If you have over 30 units they do not place much emphasis on high school work.

Thanks hippo. I'll give them a call tomorrow.

hippo beat me to it. :]

For the short answer questions, would it be ok to exceed the 1 paragraph limit. Would 2 paragraphs for several of the questions be acceptable?

No problem.

I need to complete/start my app. Been real busy with many things lately.

Ok, so let me get this straight with the whole credits situation. If I have 17 credits currently after my first semester, and am taking 19 next semester, do I have to send in my H.S. transcript and SAT scores?

I was under the impression that I DO have to send this in because it is how many credits you have by the time you are applying, which is February. But I was on the phone today with someone from USC regarding my USC ID on my application and whatnot, and she said that I DON'T have to send it in because as long as I have 30 credits by the END of my frosh year, I'm good to go.

***?

hmmm, I always thought that it was how many units you have when you apply.

If that's the case then don't expect to get in without a spring grade request.

Admission and Financial Aid Counseling Center:

Make the call. Most of them are friendly, hopefully you get the one's who don't bite...

Damn I only have a month to get a LOR

Just got off the phone with admissions.

For all those wondering. They prefer one's high school/college transcript to be in by February 2nd. However if it's one-two weeks late, it's fine. The college transcript does NOT have to be official. The lady whom I spoke to said a printout of your unofficial transcript (can be accessed through web reg programs) will be acceptable. However, later on you will have to send in an official transcript. The sooner, the better.

USC does not require letters of recommendation. Meaning none are required from a professor or counselor.

Looks like I may be applying.

the categories I-VI are part of USC's general education program. You should check your school's articulation agreement to see which classes can fulfill each category. But category 4 and 6 must be taken at USC anyways. It's not necessary to fulfill all of them to be admitted but the more the better I guess, especially if your selected major has prerequisites. Look at what specific major in L&S are you applying to then see if that has any prereqs. In addition, they want you to have completed a college level math course with 2 semesters of english composition classes as well. These seem to be more mandatory to be completed than the categories do. The diversity and language requirements are also part of the general education program. Diversity is pretty easy to fill..like intro to soc fulfills it or intro to women studies. again, language and diversity and not neccesarily required to be completed prior to applying though.

Yeah grey, that's what I thought too, but I called again today and she stressed that if I had 30 units by the end of spring semester, I'm good to go and don't need SAT's to be sent.

Does anyone know how spring grade requests work? Do we just go around to our teachers and have them write our grade down and sign it?

Gotcha shwayzee.

As for the spring grade requests, yes I saw last year that it pretty much works that way.

No, with the spring grade request you send in an (unofficial) transcript and a registration statement once your grades have been posted.

I got one last time.

oh wow, so how delayed is your admission decision if you get one? Grades don't post until mid- to late-June!

My rejection letter was dated July 24th. They sent out some rejections earlier than that and I believe, from others I've talked to, that I was in the last "wave" of rejections. I'm not sure what it means when you receive your rejection letter last, as opposed to first, but I'd like to think it's a positive in terms of rejection.
