USC 2009 transfer thread

That's concerning given that the SIR deadline for UCs is on June 1st. Ugh. USC is my top choice.

Even though USC says letters of rec are not required, they will still take them. If you can get 1 or 2 really good ones from your professors, it surely won't hurt your chances

Laguna, the problem is I can't get them in by Feb 2nd. Nonetheless, I feel very good about my chances.

Not really a big deal if you cannot get them by the 2nd. They don't even start to review transfer apps until after freshman decisions have been made.

I came form a different country and there wasnt any sat testings... and i wanna transfer to usc but have less then 30 by the application eadline.. i have good grades in highschool and i graduated with honors back then... i stopped after highschool to work for 4 years, now am back....

what should i do. can they just base it on my transcipts and recommendation letter. im doing ok so far in college with 14 units. please help me
by the way, im applying as a vocal major... no prereqs....

I think you go about the application the same... and there is a specific section asking if you took any breaks between education. You could give a lot of detail with your situation there, but I do think you still have to send in H.S. transcripts and whatnot.

do you know if we still have to send our spring grades even if we dont get a spring grade request?
like if we end up deciding to go there

If you get accepted you have to send in final transcripts and have to maintain your GPA or else admission may be revoked.

So you mean that even if i dont have stats score my highschool transcripts would be fine. cause we didint take anything like that... our transcripts are the only thing i can show...

yeah kathybaby, I would just mention all of that in both the 'special circumstances' section and the part asking about breaks between education.

When do sophomores get acceptance letters? Is it really in mid-July for all sophomore transfers because of the Spring grade request?

Is there a form for LOR or an address?

kmzizzle, no form, just a letter in a sealed envelope

I heard that Annenberg is around 75% female and 25% male. Is this true? Would this possibly help my chances of getting into Annenberg? I'm looking to apply to Communications next year as a Junior from a top rated Junior College.

Hi guys, just joined the forum and I had a quick question. I'm a California resident currently attending university of Arizona. First semester grades just got in, 3.75 gpa. I'm looking to transfer into Marshall although I'm not sure what I'm considered.. I have 40 units at my local cc in California and I have all the requirements completed except math possibly? Does anyone know if math 238 is equivalent to business calculus? I also have a question about my local cc grades, my total GPA(including Arizona and cc) is 3.57, I had a 3.8 at my local cc until i got a D in calculus. What do you guys think my chances are?

johnnyboi- Annenberg Communication is more like 60-40. I didn't pick up on the vast difference so either I just haven't noticed or its not as female dominated as expected. :p

Hey!
so i am apply to SPPD (saw that about only 2 other people r as well), does anyone know the acceptance rate for it?? I am applying as a sophomore and will have 40.3 units by the end of the spring (and all the classes are pre reqs, the categories, diversity and language).

oh and GOOD LUCK to everyone applying :)

Hey can someone help me with sending in the transcripts and letters of recommendation...

I just printed out all the paperwork after you submit application 2. I have a official high school transcript in a sealed envelope right next to me, so how do I fax that without breaking the seal? And since letters of recommendation arent required which part should I fax that?

Should I just get a big envelope and mail my official high school transcript, my letter of recommendation, and the other forms?

Also my school sends out the official transcripts themselves, so I don't need to include that right?

MattG,
you fax an unofficial transcript and send the official one in to the USC admissions office. I'm sending in my letter of rec in a sealed envelope as well, but you should call up their office to see if you can just fax it over.

I'm pretty much doing the same thing as you, I'm just going to send everything in one giant envelope (letters of rec and official transcript) to the admissions office.

And my high school gave me their official transcript in a sealed envelope and I have to send it off myself and I think that's how my college is handling it as well. If your school can just send it off by themselves, I'm sure you don't have to worry.

ok this is retarded, but im on the fence about applying to usc and wanted to double check: the deadline for transfer apps is in february, right, and the january 10th date is for freshman admissions?
