USC 2009 transfer thread

i am applying for as a transfer student from a 4 year college that is out of state

i just checked usc.edu to see what classes kids in my major would be taking, and i took those classes... theres an articulation agreement on the website if you search for it, but not all classes are listed so its confusing.

i talked to admissions officers, and similar cases to mine its recommended just to put current college gpa

For those applying to Marshall School of Business, are two semester of composition writing required for admission or only one??

USC Marshall » Undergraduate Programs » Admissions » Transfer Students

Here at the Marshall website it recommends completing two english courses, WRIT-130 and WRIT-140 prior to admission. I thought only one was required prior to transfer, and the other was to be completed at USC (WRIT-340)

Possibly at USC they have two different classes that fulfill the lower division writing requirement. There are two english courses that you have to take: Freshman Composition and a Critical thinking/reading/writing. The latter fills the requirement.

Hey mcguigs,

I'm applying from out of state and I determined my transferrable GPA by finding the classes that most resembled the GE requirements and by using that link you posted earlier (it helped a lot). I also went through and searched on the past transfer boards to USC and found kids that were transferring from the same oos university and I PM'd them and they told me specific classes.

For you composition writing question, if you're a frosh right now, then you need english 102 (101+102=WRIT-130) and that's all that is required as of now.

are there any other bio majors applying to USC?
haha ive heard from like...2

mcguigs - If you look at the Marshall Supplement, you will see that it asks you to put in the equivalent WRIT 130 class. However, you may also put in the equivalent WRIT 140 class in there instead. Only one is required.

ok, so to clarify: English Comp 101 = WRIT 130 AND English Comp 102 = WRIT 140

OR

English Comp Comp 101 + English Comp 102 = WRIT 130

does anyone know when the absolute earliest date is that a transfer has heard from USC in the past..like for an admission offer or rejection...not a grade request. I know it's probably after the freshman are completed..does anyone know?

mc, i looked it up earlier today and 103= english comp 2

Wat are the admission requirements for usc? Wat is part 1 and part 2? Wat is the gpa for transfers?

Lakers, I appreciate it but you did not answer my question:
to clarify: English Comp 101 = WRIT 130 AND English Comp 102 = WRIT 140

OR

English Comp Comp 101 + English Comp 102 = WRIT 130

Are there any students appling to SPPD or know any info on SPPD?

If you look closely at the usc admission info on their website, you can find the answer to both of your questions. The average GPA for 2007 fall was 3.7, and last year was 3.65. This is the mean GPA, so it does vary greatly by major. There is no minimum GPA that restricts you to apply for USC; this most likely means that they may consider other things in place of your GPA, such as legacy, EC's, or even large 7 figure donations.

mcguigs I do not know what English Comp 101 is so I cannot tell you for sure. If you attend a CCC, you can find the EXACT course equivalences through USC's articulation agreements.

https://camel2.usc.edu/articagrmt/artic.aspx

Mcquigs, It's "english101+english102= WRIT 130". I talked to admissions and this is because they assume you are taking 101 before 102 anyways, therefore both together equal WRIT 130.

its a shame some students don't have 7 figure donations to give :(
i know i dont atleast

lol i think the majority of us don't zircushio.

hey guys i have a dilemma. So i got my macro econ grade back today (took it at a diff school) and i was pretty ****ed i got a B. Long story short, the teacher messed up the grading and i actually did receive an A for the course. My problem is how should i got about sending my transcripts? the teacher said that the grade change would take a couple of weeks to process at least...

Madsc11, i am declaring a double major in neuroscience and PMPL, thus i am applying to SPPD. I have learned quite a bit about the program. I can help if you have any questions.
