USC 2009 transfer thread

Oh wow, 1400 words. If you think it's really really good, then don't cut any of it down... If it's great, I doubt they will mind reading 700 more words to get to know you better. To balance things out, why don't you minimize the wording in your short answers.

Anyone apply to any other college other than USC?

No, cut down your 1400 word essay. They put limits there for a reason, and if you can't prove your point concisely, then you really need to revise it. At most 900, and you're only a paragraph over. Any more than that then you're probably rambling.

I agree. You must cut down your essay. I had a difficult time doing that last year also but one of the first things Adcom will be looking at is if you followed directions.

Did anyone figure out the part on the application that asks courses and grades??

That part is deactivated for transfer applicants I think. It's for freshman applicants only. Arguably the most important part of the app in regards to grades is the downloadable form that we are to fax on which you list your two transferable English courses and grades, the highest math that you have taken and those grades, and all pre-requisite courses and those grades. Don't forget to sign at the bottom before faxing it.

Not 2009, but for Medical school in 2012 :)

Thank you :)

I haven't submitted yet, and won't do it till 11:00 P.M. the night before. I'm applying as a journalism major.

BTW I just decided to apply a day ago, so I'm just finishing my essays, which are turing out to be amazing!

Just finished and submitted my application. Woohoo!

"That part is deactivated for transfer applicants I think. It's for freshman applicants only.
wait...am i missing something here? lol when were we supposed to fax over a paper which tells us our english grades and highest math. shouldn't they get all that information from the transcripts i'm sending over?

You are missing something. I will walk you through.

-Go to your homepage and log into your application
-Click on 'Continue your Part II Undergraduate Application (Part II, Fall 2009)'
-Scroll down a bit
-Click on the hyperlink that reads "Forms to Download (Show)"
-I hope that you can figure it out from there

I don't mean to patronize you, but damn. :(

lol the way you worded "Arguably the most important part of the app in regards to grades is the downloadable form that we are to fax on which you list your two transferable English courses and grades, the highest math that you have taken and those grades, and all pre-requisite courses and those grades. Don't forget to sign at the bottom before faxing it."

on my "forms to download" i only get
Transfer College Transcript Cover Sheet
Transcript Request Form for High School Records

you couldve just said, "the most important thing is sending in your transcripts."

If I have a painfully painfully bad high school record (2.6), do I have a shot at USC as a junior transfer, even if my college gpa is 3.9?

Furthermore, does USC check SAT scores?

If you are applying for junior standing, USC does not weigh your HS stats nor your SATs. You have a great shot with a 3.9 - but what major are you applying to?

I already submitted my application and had a question. I am applying as a sophomore transfer and don't have 30 semester units yet but I will by the end of this year. Do I still have to send in my High School Transcript?

I submitted part II and the payment fee last week and already requested transcripts from all colleges/high schools to be sent in. I also won't be sending any SAT scores since I will have 60 semester units done by Spring of 2009.

Now, all I need to do is fill out that cover sheet for transfers and list English/Math courses and fax it to them yes?

Does anyone know if we need to send in official AP scores before they make a decision or only after getting accepted?

I'm pretty sure that everyone is required to submit HS transcripts, regardless of how many units they have. They will weigh your HS stats differently according to how many units you have accumulated thus far.

DontAsk DontTell, go ahead and send your AP scores now.. I applied as a freshman and they said they'd still have it on file so I didn't bother sending them again, but I would if i were you and this is your first time applying.

I'm an English Major. Actually, I'm not sure if my gpa is 3.9 or 3.87
(Is there really a difference between the two gpas?)

So you're saying USC doesn't look at High School at ALL when I'm applying as a junior? Or is it like, high school grades count for 1/3 of the admissions process while college grades count for 2/3?
