Yeah, true CA residents get priority at UCLA. Although I think USC's film department is much more competitive than UCLA. Because people think "George Lucas" or "Ron Howard" when they hear USC.

@Miss_Smartypants

Are you 100% sure that the transcripts had to be sent before the deadline?

Does anyone know if units earned (by APs) at our current university will count in the 30+ transferable units for USC admissions?

Miss_Smartypants

Good to see someone interested in film as well. I'm pretty much in the same situation as you. I didn't apply to USC film because it's pretty darn competitive. So I applied to CLAS, though I'm hoping to minor at least in something that is related to film, and perhaps go to film school after completing an undergraduate degree.

I'm pretty sure transcripts DID NOT have to be sent in before the deadline.

jellyfish08, I'm from out of state as well, but what makes you think it's easier for us to get in?

molomann, I'm sure they'll accept your transcripts postmarked late. Have you already faxed them your unofficial ones? Get on sending your official ones asap

Anyone? I asked if I have to send in college transcripts as well with form 6

Schad

Yea do it ASAP. Both high school transcripts/college and the cover sheets for them both. I faxed my cover sheets separately and sent the transcripts.

On a quick note, does anyone know the policy on if i drop a class (2 weeks into the semester) and recieve a W on my transcript. I took French II this semester thinking it was going to be decently ok, turns out my teacher is nuts, and i never took french in high school and i'm beyond backed up for that class. I also have to work/internship during those times, and its just a mess. But anyway, does anyone know the policy or what happens or anything? :( i feel helpless right now

And I'm guessing it has to be an official transcript?

zircushio-

I asked USC about "W" marks on transcripts when I called them once, and they said that having just one W is not that a big deal, and that it would only be a problem if there were like more than 2 W's or if it was a pattern... so if you don't have other W's then I think you should be ok.

Moreover, even tho the app deadline has already passed you could always send them a letter explaining the reasons behind the W and I'm sure they won't hold it against u too much

hope that helps!

schad, here's what I did about transcripts:

I used the downloadable cover sheets to fax in an UNOFFICIAL college transcript.

I plan on hand-delivering sealed & OFFICIAL transcripts, along with sealed letters of recommendation. This is because I don't live too far/work at USC. For your case you can probably mail them.

for HS:
1. I faxed over the downloadable cover sheet for HS transcripts and faxed it over to my HS. I included a sheet asking if they can please fax to USC a copy of my transcripts using the included cover sheets, and mail official sealed transcripts.
2. I made sure to call and follow up.

Remember that these cover sheets enable them to send you an acknowledgment email when they receive your stuff. If you don't get an e-mail, it didn't work. Again, following up is important.

Hope that helps.

Does anyone know the exact address that we have to mail Letter of Recomendations to? Also do we have to attach any cover sheet or anything to it?

Finally, do we need to send in official transcripts if we have faxed our unofficials?

Directly from the Undergraduate Admission website.

Mailing address for follow-up application materials and all other types of correspondence:

USC Office of Admission
700 Childs Way
University Park Campus
Los Angeles, California 90089-0911

A cover sheet is not needed when mailing your LoRs. However, make sure your put your name and USC ID number on the outside of the envelope to make things easier for them.

Your college must send in official transcripts. Whether you do it now or later, you need to do it. The sooner, the better.

USC Undergraduate Admission - Admission Counselor

Since so many of you are applying to Marshall, maybe someone can help me out. Marshall requires prerequisite courses to be done before entering into USC and they want to see the grades for all of them, but I take my last math class next semester and I wont get my grades until June! Are my chances for admission slim because of this? I wanted to take it during winter but it wasn't offered. :(

No, they won't make a decision until they see these grades. So you're prob looking at a looooong wait if your grades come out that late :/

shwayzee
I said that because USC is not like the UCs who give priority to CA residents, and it says on their site:
"USC is a private university and thus has no state residency requirements. We recruit nationally and internationally and almost half of our student body comes from outside of California. Tuition and fees are the same for all students, regardless of state of residence or national citizenship."
So compared to applying to the UCs, I think it's a more fair game to us.

Ahh I'm an idiot. I sent my Official High School transcript with cover sheets through the mail, and in the same envelope I had my college transcript cover sheets and form 6. I did not include a college transcript because for some reason I thought they just needed form 6 filled out. Is it ok to resend the same cover sheets with my official college transcript included? I am getting my official college transcript tomorrow.

Schad

I don't think you need to resend form 6, they will keep the cover sheet, and once you send in your college transcript they will put them all together.

At least that's what I did, I sent my transcripts last week, but faxed form 6 today.

Bumblebee

Sounds good. I'll call them tomorrow just to double check.
