USC 2009 transfer thread

that's what i did and i got a confirmation e-mail the next day

I'm still on the "we have received and are currently reviewing..." status. Haven't gotten the new one yet :(

Ok, when did you guys submit your Part II Applications? I submitted mine the day before it was due, Feb. 1.

I think i submitted mine the week before, probably jan. 25th-ish

alright, i just need to fax my transcript. i am so stressed about this semester. i wonder when they are going to look at this semester's grades; before or after we are accepted. it seems logical that they would give everyone an SGR

NO Spring grade request pleaseeee....That would take foreverrrrrr >.<

haha as guilty as i am about it, i submitted my application on feb. 1st

Hi everyone!

I'm an Anthro major hoping to transfer to USC. I updated my application for fall 09 because I had to withdraw last year. We have a long wait ahead of us but it will be worth it! Good luck!

does anyone know the number we fax the financial aid to? and do we need any cover sheets or anything? or do we just put our name on the top right corner or something?

Hey,

I'm kinda debating whether I should do FAFSA. I know for a fact I'm not going to get ANY money. (My step-dad laughed when I asked him to get the tax return. . . he told me the government thinks they're taxing him too little. . . ) So why am I debating if I SHOULD DO IT? Welll, correct me if I'm wrong but I know by doing FAFSA, I can be eligible for other grants? Even if my parents income is high? (500,000+ -.- and actually, I am not too sure of this :|) And even if I don't get any money, I can still be eligible for loans, right? I never did FAFSA before or anything but I really don't want to ask my parents to pay for my tuition. (They have enough things to deal with right now)

SO yepp should I spend the time doing it? Or should I just get a loan from a bank or something? I seriously do not know anything about paying for college. If anyone can help/direct me . . . that would be wonderful!

the w-2 and tax returns are for financial aid correct?

allisonn:
Haha you just completely summed up my financial situation as well. I keep debating whether I should complete FAFSA. I have no idea what to do....

Oh, KataraTrojan and allisonn...Join the Facebook group :D

Login | Facebook

zircushio,

Eeek... quickly go here -> USC Financial Aid
...on the top-right corner click on the "My Fin Aid & Documents".

On the right-hand side, there is an orange section. Follow the instructions. If you've never signed up for a USC financial aid account, sign up asap. You'll need your USC ID and your birthday.

Once you login, click on
"My 2009-2010 Financial Aid Document Status"

You will find links with all the documents you still need to turn in. Given that you don't know about this, I'm guessing that this is all of them.

At any rate, you will be able to download customized fax cover sheets that must be faxed with your docs so that you may get an email confirmation. If you don't use these customized cover sheets, you will be making their job more difficult, and will be elongating your financial aid process.

allisonn and grenerd,
You must do FAFSA. This way they can determine your eligibility for loans from USC at a low interest rate. Universities would like all students to complete the FAFSA - not only for the latter reason, but also for statistical purposes I presume. They want to know that type of information.

hey we dont have to fax our taxes until May 2nd right?

cause i got something in the mail from them saying that by March 2nd I need to have done the CSS Profile and FAFSA

and by May 2nd need to fax in my parents and my taxes

but im not sure if that is for new students and not just for continuing students

thanks grey, i got scared and checked there and it turns out they explain everything well. :D all financial aid and other documents have successfully been faxed!

jocelyne, its due march 2nd, not may 2nd.

jocelyne,

Quick google search will bring this up: USC Financial Aid - Applying & Receiving Financial Aid - Undergraduate - New Students

The deadline for all financial aid documents is in bold (this Monday, the 2nd), less FAFSA/CSS which were due on February the 2nd.

Wait, so is it possible for me to submit FAFSA before tomorrow? I just want to turn it in and see if I can get any aid....

no i think they'll take it, you'll just get less of what you wouldve gotten.. i think thats what the rule is or something

Anyone applying as a transfer that has received a request for an interview or an acceptance/rejection letter? Anyone who is transferring, but is currently not enrolled in school?
