USC 2009 transfer thread

@MartyMcFly:
A+/A = 4.0
A- = 3.7
B+ = 3.3
B = 3.0
B- = 2.7
etc.

@Yuta:
20, 3 300, 1 200, and 2 100s, and I'm a freshman. Anyone can get a SGR, but I'd say a 4.0 with near-junior status is less likely while a sub-3.0 prospective sophomore is an auto-reject. But really, the basis of testing prospective sophomores should be based on the whole year because either the intro classes are "easier" or there's just not enough info about academic rigor.

Not that many juniors got an SGR.

So i'm signing up for my spring courses today and i'm definitely stuck taking all the hardest GE's. applying to colleges is so nerveracking!!! and i have to take a foreign language, i heard that's hard in college. ahhh

Ya, I seriously hope that I do not get an SGR. I know I will get A's in all of my other classes (I should) its just this stupid math class. And, I am on the semester system, not quarter, so if I do get an SGR its not indicative of what I may have at the end of the year. Also, I found this interesting, that on my OASIS, it says all of the documents that they have received, and it says they have received a midyear report from me. Is that different than an SGR?

Anybody know if I.B. Math Studies covers USC's high school Algebra II requirement?

should i expect my status to update saying everything is received and my app is complete sometime? right now it says:

Undergraduate Application (Part II, Fall 2009)
We have received and are currently reviewing your application. We recommend you check here occasionally for an update on the status of your application.

Status last updated: 02/03/2009

Eventually, maybe. That was my status exactly up until earlier this week. Here is what mine says now:

Undergraduate Application (Part II, Fall 2009)
We have received your application, and we need more information. Please ensure you have submitted all required items. Due to the high volume of application documents we receive, allow sufficient processing time.

Click here to see status of specific documents, or to turn in missing items.
Status last updated: 03/02/2009

btw, they need my official transcripts, which I requested from my school and will be hand-delivering, along with a letter of recommendation.

They also need my official HS transcripts, which were faxed before with a different fax cover form. They are now asking for the official ones to be mailed with a different form that I've never seen before.

So if it doesn't update in the next week or so I guess I can just assume that they received everything?

Well, did you turn everything in?

Yea but I'm a little worried b/c I've been having problems with other schools losing, I'd just like to know they have everything and its in my file

I suggest you allow another week for an update to go through. If nothing happens by then, call them and personally make sure that they have everything.

Hey everyone! I plan on transferring on Fall 2010, so, I decided to stick around here and hang out until the USC 2010 Transfer thread starts!

I got a "C" in one of my classes during the Winter semester. As of right now, my GPA is 3.05. I have five semesters to go. Kinda nervous that the "C" will kill my chances...

Here's to 4.0 SGR's! (sophomores)

When do they let you know their decison???? may/june is such a long ways away!

housefan, if you get straight A's from now until the time you send in your transcripts next january, you could possibly end up with a 3.65ish. and i think that USC's average GPA, if not very close. just work hard. if its your dream school, thats enough to motivate you to get your A's. It has for me, and sure as hell i got my A's :D.

Speaking of Math exams lol, today i just got back my math exam from the professor and he gave me an 87! and i sat there, looking at the paper the whole class, waited 2 hours until class was over thinking about how this would effect my overall grade in the long run, and i argued with the professor for like 5 minutes on why my answer is right. turns out i was right and he refunded me back 7 points to raise me up to a 94! B+ to an A. the things i fight for for USC man. they have no idea about my dedication. :P

Hey all,

I've been coming back to this forum when I begin to freak out about getting into USC. I'm currently an upper sophomore at a city college in New York. I applied to transfer in the Fall to USC (Cinematic Arts). I am incredibly nervous. I've been able to maintain a 3.5 GPA, but during one of my freshman semesters fell back on a few classes due to tragic family incidents. It's currently at a 3.2, but I have faith I'll do extremely well this semester. With USC on my mind all the time, I'm striving more than ever to do well in my classes.

Since I've applied as a transfer, I feel my letter of whether or not I've gotten in wont get to me until June. I'm not sure if they want my current semester's grades for their final decision. Do they usually request them as a standard, or are there instances where they let you know and if you've gotten in, ask for your updated transcript?

I'm just getting antsy, I guess... hahaha.

Hey guys. I know its posted somewhere in this thread, but how do I register at oasis? I just recently received my USC ID, but don't know my password to login or know how to register for one. Thanks guys.

you'll either get rejected, get a spring grade request, or get accepted.

Good Job Zircushio! haha

btw where else are you guys applying to (well for the Community College kids?)

I am applying to Maryland, UConn and Barnard but of course my 1st choice is USC! :)
