USC 2009 transfer thread

Guys I got a financial aid question.

If I make changes to my FAFSA or CSS profile, USC will get them right?

ALSO... my family income is less than $30K..... and last year my EFC was 446.

Is this a possible full ride or what? Any thoughts?

archieg, if you make changes to the FAFSA and CSS profiles, USC will get them, and i have nearly the same EFC and whatnot.. so if USC meets 100% of our need, then yes. we're looking at something like that.

hi guys! I applied to USC as well (as incoming sophomore). I got a financial aid question as well.

So, i finished the FAFSA and my EFC was really high (as expected). So I feel like I don't really need to do the CSS and fax my tax returns in because chances are I will not receive any money from USC. My parents' incomes are too high for me to receive any aid.
My question is do I need to complete a CSS profile and fax my tax returns and will it affect my status as an applicant if I do not do it? USC has sent me a letter saying additional info is necessary to complete my financial aid app., but I do not want to go through all the hassle and $9 lol when I am almost certain I won't receive money.

archieg- Yes. You'll get 100% of your financial need met, but the package will still include loans.

Theanswer-
No it doesn't matter to your application if you don't fill out the financial aid information. The financial aid committee are different people from the admissions committee. When they decide your admissions, they don't even look at your financial aid.

So my fellow propspective Trojans, how is our journey coming along so far? I listed my EC's and realized I am in a bunch of stuff. I'm in 8 organizations hat involve promoting bands/concerts and volunteered five times to promote shows. More shows are happening this year so I should finish the year with 5-7 or more shows done. Pretty good, right?

Yeah, but on your app I hope you actually explained what you did. Saying, "I promoted X" is really vague.

since when did we have to send tax returns? Is it through FAFSA?

You missed the boat man - the deadline was March 2nd. Tax returns go to the USC Financial Aid Office if you want to receive aid.

I hope it's just fate knocking at my door... calling me in...

Because there is always SOMEONE in SOME class wearing USC garb!

In my History of Motion Pictures class (Art 125, at Glendale College, anybody here go there right now? lol) I sit in the back. Another student sits in the front.

WHO HAPPENS TO HAVE A USC CAP ON EVERYTIME. Same thing in my Accounting class.

And I usually see USC Alumni license plate frames driving to and from school.

And a USC flag on some houses.

MAN!!!!!!!!! This could just be a coincidence, lol. Or rather, a message from God... telling me to work hard, and not give up.

I realized this just last week: I get home at around 11 AM after my daily biz calc class, and sit on the computer for a quick e-mail check, College Confidential check, etc. But what do you know? I get off and it's already 12:57 PM.

I now realized the secret! The key is, once I realized that I can have all my freedom back in three months when the semester is over (I CANNOT WAIT UNTIL JUNE 3, Internet sessions, Friday night movie marathons, etc for me) it really makes me NOT miss it so much, you know? It makes you wanna work harder towards this goal.... and I'll get used to it quickly, AND there's always the weekend...

Good luck to all, and have a strong and successful week.

5 weeks to spring break, then 6 weeks to finals... WOOT!

Wait...wait...wait...wait...wait...wait...wait. I hate to wait!!!

archieg funny you say that, i have someone in all my classes who at least once wore USC gear... and i'm on the east coast. lol

Well, figured I'd bring this back up incase someone missed it.

Does the major you put on your application have any weight on the application process? Like if you are applying in an impacted major, would that hurt your chances?

Yes .

If I get accepted (Cross fingers) as a biophysics major, do you think I can change it to neuroscience, maybe during orientation? I'm starting to have a great interest in the subject, after taking two neuroscience courses at my current institution.

So I got a strange letter from USC this weekend. Keep in mind, I applied as a Cinema-Television major for my first and second choice major. (1 -production 2- Critical Studies) Also keep in mind that I turned everything in a week and a half before the due dates (the application for the film school was due one day after the regular application) The main part of the letter states: "We have started the initial processing of your application and have noticed that you applied for an academic program for which the deadline has passed; consequently, we have changed your application major to Cinema-Television." Strange, I applied as a Cinema-Television major, yet they are telling me I missed the deadline, and that they have changed it to what I originally put. Just thought i'd share...
