USC 2009 transfer thread

Hey guys, I see you have all been writing a lot. So some news that may be helpful- My status said that I was still missing documents. I called Admissions up, they said my profile was complete (I had all the documents) and immediately my status was changed to "We have received and are currently reviewing your application..." If I remember properly, earlier on this thread someone mentioned that USC does not start looking at our applications until April 1st, after all of the Freshman ones have been sent out (out they have declared they are going to USC)- so we still have a bit, but it is coming faster and faster

uscplease777- I don't know what your situation is, but what I got from the few comments you read, you need to change something for your app. I have the same issue with a math class that I am dropping because I found out I already fulfilled the requirement (oops) and don't want to take it, I hate math. Anyways- I talked to an Admission dude and he gave me an email address to use if there need to any changes to an app. I will give it to you when I get in my room. He told me to use it to inform them and describe the math class that I already took that fulfilled my requirement- I am sure it will work for you too, but you should call them tomorrow and ask about the address anyways

does anyone know if it is possible to hand deliver your official high school transcripts?

99.999% sure it is; heck, if I could hand deliver everything I would. It's the same as mailing, they just don't have to rip it out of a package- and they get to see you, which is a plus. I see people on this thread talking about how they hand-deliver documents to USC. Just make sure if there are any official transcripts that they are sealed, or I am sure they will not be accepted as official ones.

Does anyone know exactly where to go? Its my first time on the campus, I am coming from north orange county, any direction suggestions? Thanks

hey uscplease777, i agree with grenerd. Although I also suggest, if you can contact someone in the department that you are applying to, and talk to them. They have been very helpful to me, and I am sure they will to you too. Fight On!!!

For directions to get there, go here About USC - Visit USC - University Park Campus - Driving Directions and it should explain how to get there. I recommend that you don't just plug in the Office of Admissions address into a GPS, because it takes you right there and you can't drive in (you have to walk in and due to construction there is no place to park) So, what I did was find a place to park INSIDE the campus. I had to pay. They will give you a map. Follow it to the Admissions Office and ask people for help. When you get there, there are super nice and you can turn your stuff in.

pootie562, for admissions go to Trojan Residence Hall (TRO). It's located at Figueroa and Childs way.

pootie562, like rodeo said, you have to pay for parking, it's $8 for the day. Or there's parking meters

just got a calculus exam back... 100%!! yay!

Do these directions sound right?

Take the exit onto I-110 N
11.3 mi

Take exit 20B for 37th St toward Exposition Blvd
0.3 mi

Merge onto S Hope St (signs for Figueroa Corridor/Hope St)
453 ft

Turn left at Exposition Blvd
0.2 mi

Turn right at S Figueroa St
190 ft

S Figueroa St & Childs Way
Los Angeles, CA 90007

and can I easily find parking here around 1 pm?

I got a status update!

"We are reviewing your application. Sometimes we require additional information, so be sure to respond to any requests promptly. Transfer applicants are notified of their admission, or of a request for more information by June 1. Status last updated: 03/11/2009"

ahhhh this made me so excited!! haha

Jeez, come on... I just posted the following earlier today:

Hey all, I just got back from hand-delivering some things to USC. For those of you who have never been - the campus is awesome. The first thing I noticed is how serene everything is. The campus is really flat and open with lots of noise-insulating grass, so everything is pretty quiet, although it's quite busy. All you can hear is the birds chirping. And all you can see is the ladies.

Also, the lady at admissions was so kind and helpful. Just thought I'd share my positive experience.

ohh come on! this thread is pretty big give me a break

aww man... I just found out I got rejected from Cal Poly SLO. there were only 64 slots for the 1250 kinesiology applicants. cmonnn USC

congrats on the calc exam! :D
and i'm about to check my status right now...

:( mine didn't changeeeeeee

hahaha don't worry pootie, i do that all the time.

ShooShuShoeShou: Congrats man!

No status update for me

zamela: sorry about SLO...even if you got in, i assume you'd be going somewhere else (fight on!)

pootie562: you're going to love the campus. everyone i talk to just clicks once you step foot on that place and it did for me too

grey_syntactics: you're a thug, way to hand-deliver that transcript

ok, now i'm just going off...this is what happens when you pull all nighters ><

the things i do for you, SC...

I hope USC admissions goes on here and sees the few dedicated students that are actually trying to hard to get in. i know i would :P

this quarter has seriously burned me out. hopefully i'll have the energy to try just as hard for the spring but 8 am classes 4 days out of the week won't help!

i hope all this hard work pays off =(

uscplease777 it will definitely pay off. I can't help but laughing at what you said- we are all working hard and I guess because I can relate,- that you have to wake up 4 days a week for 8am classes (honestly, that is horrible), the way you worded the sentence and wrapped it up with a frown face just made it really funny to me...sorry. Seriously though, the work WILL pay off. We reap what we sow =)
